NBA-leading Chicago looks to continue its home domination of New
       York
Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks got the best of Derrick
Rose and the Chicago Bulls over the weekend, pulling out a
thrilling win in front of a nationally televised audience.
The Bulls won't have to wait too long for a chance at revenge.
NBA-leading Chicago looks to continue its home domination of New
York as these Eastern Conference rivals square off again Tuesday
night at the United Center (8:30 p.m. CT -- gates open at 6:30
       p.m. | WGN & ESPN | ESPN 1000 AM).
After taking an early 21-point lead Sunday at Madison Square
Garden, the Knicks (29-27) found themselves down by 10 with
under four minutes to play before Anthony came through. Rose and
Luol Deng missed four potentially game-sealing free throws to
open the door for Anthony, who made a game-tying 3-pointer with
11 seconds remaining in regulation before hitting the
game-winning 3 with 8 seconds left in overtime in Sunday's
       100-99 win.
       Anthony finished with a season-high 43 points on 16-of-31
shooting, making 4 of 5 from beyond the arc.
"This was a playoff game. We have a chance, we might play these
guys in the playoffs if we keep doing what we're doing and get
that seed, so this was a big statement game for us and we willed
this one," said Anthony, who has averaged 31.2 points on 49.1
percent shooting over the last five games.
Rose, meanwhile, scored 29 points but went 8 for 26 in his first
game back after missing 12 due to a strained right groin. The
league's reigning MVP committed a season-high eight turnovers
and missed two potential game-winning shots.
"I didn't think of (my groin)," Rose told the team's official
website. "I'm not worried about it. My thing is just trying to
get better. Defensively, we weren't there. Hopefully next time
we play them we come out with a sense of urgency."
The Bulls (43-14) seemed to be caught off guard by the Knicks'
improved defense, missing 11 of their first 12 shots and
committing a handful of early miscues. They finished with 19
       turnovers and forced just nine.
"We should be able to overcome all of that stuff," said coach
Tom Thibodeau, who had his starting five together for only the
11th time this season. "You just have to do the right things. We
do the right things, you're not going to have those problems.
You're not going to have those turnovers. Simple plays: Protect
the ball, keep the ball moving, quick decisions, hit the first
open man, sustain your spacing, protect the ball, tuck it on the
catch, fight for your space, get your space. Simple."
New York has surrendered just 88.6 points per contest in winning
11 of 14 since coach Mike Woodson took over. The Bulls have
averaged just 90.8 in dropping three of four - their worst
       stretch of the season.
Chicago took the first two matchups in this season's series by a
combined eight points - including a 104-99 home win March 12
behind 32 points from Rose. The Bulls have had their way with
the Knicks on their own court, taking 17 of 20 matchups.
While Chicago is trying to hold on to the league's top record,
New York sits in a seventh-place tie with Philadelphia for the
final two postseason berths in the East - with ninth-place
Milwaukee looming right behind. The Knicks conclude this
two-game road swing with another crucial matchup Wednesday
       against the Bucks.
"(Sunday was) big for us as a team," said rookie guard Iman
Shumpert, who had 15 points, nine rebounds, six assists and four
steals. "One game at a time, we gotta chip away. Milwaukee's
right behind us, we're just trying to keep moving up."

That's good news but I would've loved to see them win last
Sunday so it could be 3 in the loss column! :)

If they could win 5 more games I think the Bulls have home court
       sown up.
They could win this conference if everybody is healthy.

Bulls currently lead Heat by three games in the East
Coming off their worst defensive effort since LeBron James and
Chris Bosh brought their talents to South Beach to join forces
with Dwyane Wade, the Miami Heat need a victory for any
realistic chance to claim the Eastern Conference's top seed.
The Chicago Bulls have done quite well maintaining that position
despite Derrick Rose being slowed by injuries as role players
have consistently stepped up in his absence.
The Heat's talented trio comes to the United Center for a
showdown Thursday night versus the Bulls, who are hopeful the
league's reigning MVP will be available after missing a game
       with a right ankle sprain (7:00 p.m. CT | TNT | ESPN 1000 AM).
Miami (40-16) is three games behind Chicago (44-14) with two
games in hand and should finish no worse than second in the
East. While the teams play again April 19 in Miami, the Bulls
know they can significantly improve their chances of being the
No. 1 seed with a win.
"It's a big game because of the team they have, the record they
have and we're trying to fight for the top seed in the East, so
it's a big game to determine who gets that top seed in the
       East," guard C.J. Watson said.
Additionally, the Heat have fallen off the pace recently and
split their last 10 games. They also were shockingly exposed
defensively in a 115-107 home loss Tuesday night to Boston.
The Celtics shot 60.6 percent, the best any opponent has put
forth against the Big 3. More disturbing for Miami is three of
the nine worst shooting percentages allowed in the 138 games
since James and Bosh were acquired have come in these past 10
       games.
"None of us were expecting that," coach Erik Spoelstra said. "To
give up 115 points on our home floor, that's not our style. And
we're being made to feel uncomfortable right now. That's really
the residual of the last three weeks or so."
In the last 10 games, the Heat have yielded an average of 95.8
points on 47.3 percent shooting, the latter notably higher than
their season mark of 43.2 percent.
The lack of defense was the primary reason Chicago defeated
Miami 106-102 on March 14 as Rose watched due to a groin injury.
John Lucas scored 24 points off the bench as six players scored
in double figures for the Bulls, who made 10 of 19 from 3-point
       range.
Rose currently has a sprained right ankle suffered in Sunday's
100-99 overtime loss at New York - his only action since March
       12. Despite practicing before Tuesday's 98-86 win over the
Knicks, coach Tom Thibodeau left out his star guard.
"I just think it was the smart thing to do in this situation,"
Thibodeau said. "If we're going to err, we're going to err on
the side of caution. He wanted to play and we felt it was best
       that he didn't."
While replacing Rose's 23.0 points per game presents a
challenge, the Bulls are 16-7 without him, and Thibodeau has
many players capable of doing so any given night. On Tuesday,
Richard Hamilton became the fifth Bull in the 14-game span Rose
has battled injuries to reach the 20-point mark, scoring 18 in
       the third quarter.
"That's what I've been doing my whole career," said Hamilton,
who has been limited to 20 games due to injuries. "But on this
team, I've got to pick my moments. There are so many guys on
       this team that can score."
Wade, a Chicago native, scored 36 in last month's loss while
James added 35. Wade has three consecutive 30-point games in the
regular season at the United Center, but the Bulls have won all
       three.
Tune in to watch the game at 7:00 p.m. CT on TNT and listen live
       on ESPN 1000 AM.

       Well,
That was certainly an anti-climatic and disappointing 2nd half.
:( So much for winning one for the Gipper...
We really need at least ONE of Rip/Deng/Boozer to show up big
time per game in order to stand a chance. As it stands, all
       three were practically MIA.

Out of the 3...all eyes are gonna be glued to Boozer. He was
brought here to be the 2nd offensive option to Derrick
Rose...and at times he hasn't delivered. He sure hasn't gotten
the job done in the postseason last year. He even has less of an
excuse this year because he's been healthy.
