[b]CHICAGO BULLS: Marko Jaric is so excited he almost sounds
like a rookie. "I like the NBA style more than European
basketball," he said. "I'm one of the few European guys who
doesn't like flopping, so I love the new rule. When I went back
to Europe, it was so hard for me to adjust to flopping.
Everybody flopped. "I'm just trying hard to learn this coaching
staff's philosophy and make an impact."
Cleveland Cavaliers: Byron Scott said yesterday Luke Walton
has been the biggest surprise through the first week of training
camp. Scott was amazed at Walton's conditioning and the way he's
making shots, moving around on the court. Walton has proven that
with a nice first half (5pts) in this scrimmage.
Detroit Pistons: NBA officially announces that the Knicks
will be playing a regular season game in London this year, Jan.
17 vs. the Pistons.
Indiana Pacers: The Pacers will accept similar numbers this
season, given the balance of their starting lineup and depth of
their bench. Hibbert won't have to average 20 points to justify
his millions, he'll just need to continue to refine his game and
maintain a high level of effort – rebound and defend, of course,
but also command a double-team that creates opportunities on the
perimeter for his teammates. "We just need him to be steady,"
David West said. "He's not one of those guys who's going to go
out and try to do things he's not used to doing. Just continue
to dominate the interior, and that's going to make us better as
a group."
Milwaukee Bucks: Golden State picked Monta Ellis directly out
of Lanier High School in Mississippi and in his second season
(2006-'07) he was named the league's most improved player. He
was asked about some chatter that he would be an ideal sixth man
for an elite NBA team, but the soon-to-be 27-year-old was having
none of that. "I don't believe that," Ellis said. "People are
entitled to their own opinion. If you put me on a team with a
whole bunch of guys, I guarantee you I'm going to win that
starting position no matter who it is. "I've been hearing that
all my life. It don't do anything but make me go out there and
work hard and accept the challenge."

[b]CHICAGO BULLS: Add in that Boozer will be the 24th
highest-paid player in the Association at $15 million, and is
owed $15.3 million next season and $16.8 million in the 2014-15,
and it’s no wonder that the chant of “Boooooooze’’ from the
hometown fans has far too often turned to boos. “People look at
it from the wrong perspective,’’ Boozer said. “This isn’t Utah,
and this isn’t just a team with me and [former Jazz point guard]
Deron Williams on it. We’re playing with five scorers here, so
your touches aren’t going to be the same, your looks aren’t
going to be the same. It’s a different system. “All the people
should worry about is if we win. Criticize me if we lose, but if
we win, just praise us.’
Cleveland Cavaliers: This year, Cavaliers fans are more
concerned with the fact Dion Waiters, the No. 4 overall draft
pick, did not start Monday’s preseason opener vs. Montepaschi
Siena. He may not start in Tuesday’s preseason game in Canton,
either. Instead, the honor went to another newcomer --
free-agent pickup C.J. Miles, a veteran of six NBA seasons (all
with Utah). “I just felt C.J. comes in with a little more
experience, he’s a guy who’s played in a ton of games. He fits
in well with what we’re doing,” Cavs coach Byron Scott said
prior to tipoff at Quicken Loans Arena. “It’s the same thing I
said about Kyrie last year. Dion has to earn it. Simple as
that.”
Detroit Pistons: Former Detroit Pistons player and coach
Donnie Butcher died today at the age of 76, according to his
son, Denny, a basketball coach in Hartland. Butcher was traded
from the New York Knicks to the Pistons on Dec. 16, 1963 as a
part of a three-team, four-player deal. He would play with
Detroit until 1966. During the '66-'67 season, he was named
Pistons head coach, replacing then player-coach Dave
DeBusschere.
Indiana Pacers: Standing before a half-huddle of microphones,
dressed in both his game uniform and game face, Paul George laid
it out for the world to hear. “I want to be an All-Star, of
course,” he said. “I feel like that's in my reach. Nothing aside
from the team success, but I just feel like this is a year I can
be aggressive and make a name for myself.”
Milwaukee Bucks: Even in the event Eddy Curry doesn't make
the Spurs, word is he's played well enough to have drawn
interest from... several teams, which are supposedly keeping
tabs on him. Then again, Curry no longer seems like such a long
shot to make the Spurs' final roster. The Bucks, Trail Blazers,
Hornets and yes, Bulls, all may have an interest if Curry is cut
loose.

[b]CHICAGO BULLS: Thirty-two-point-seven seconds was all the
time Chicago Bulls rookie guard Ryan Allen and his older brother
Memphis Grizzlies veteran guard Tony Allen shared on the United
Center court on Tuesday. There was nothing special in terms of
basketball that occurred during that span. They guarded each
other for three possessions, but neither touched the ball and
then the first-half clock expired. Ryan didn’t see the court
again the rest of the evening. Yet, with it being Ryan’s first
NBA game, the two brothers having never faced each other at any
level and both being from Chicago, the few moments they did have
together Tuesday were some of the greatest for the two brothers
and their mother, Ella. “It was awesome,” said Ella, who cheered
for both teams behind the Grizzlies’ bench. “It was really
awesome. I was like on 10. To see both of my babies out there on
the floor together, I’m like, what an accomplishment, the
greatest accomplishment you can make. “I never even fathomed
(that would happen.) I never even thought this would happen on
nobody’s earth. I just never thought it would happen, but it
did. I thank God for it. It was awesome.”
Cleveland Cavaliers: R&B Singer Keyshia Cole and her NBA
player husband Daniel Gibson are giving fans a look inside their
life in the new reality show “Keyshia Cole: Family First” which
premiered on Tuesday. The show, shot in Atlanta, coincides with
production of Keyshia’s fifth album “Woman to Woman.” Fans will
get to see the recording process, which will include cameos of
other big names in the music industry, as well as the singer’s
wedding to Gibson and his difficult rehabilitation process. The
wedding featured on the show takes place in Hawaii and is the
couple’s second trip to the alter. The seemingly down-to-earth
duo had a small, private ceremony in Vegas several months prior.
The show will air on Tuesdays at 10pm ET on BET.
Detroit Pistons: After a minor setback thanks to a strained
calf that sidelined him for a week of training camp, Valanciunas
is expected in the lineup when the Raptors face the Detroit
Pistons in their second exhibition game. “We’re going to throw
him out there,” coach Dwane Casey said after Valanciunas went
through a full three-hour contact practice at the Air Canada
Centre. “We’re going to see how his body feels (Wednesday) after
going through (Tuesday) and then we’ll make the decision. Well
see how he reacts but we’re anticipating looking at him (against
the Pistons).”
Indiana Pacers: Recently, Jalen Rose admitted he tried to
stick his foot when Kobe Bryant took a jump shot during the 2000
Finals between the Lakers and the Pacers. Back in the day the
media talked a lot about some similar plays that happened during
your career with Steve Francis, Jamal Crawford... Also, there
was a statistic that you likely contested around eight hundred
shots per year during your 13-year career. What's your take on
that? BB: I can't control what others say or think. The only
thing that I can do is control what I do, and I know that for me
there was no malicious harm involved, I didn't try to purposely
harm someone. It just happened that I was a very aggressive
player and those guys that came down on my foot, it was just a
byproduct of me being close to them. I never intentionally tried
to allow someone to come down on my foot. I came down on
people's feet before as well, but I never read anything about
that. That happens in the game of basketball.
Milwaukee Bucks: Less than a quarter into the Bucks' first
preseason game and they're already experienced an injury to a
key player. Beno Udrih suffered a head injury as he fell to the
floor about midway through the first quarter of the Milwaukee
Bucks' opening preseason game against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Udrih fell backwards and knocked the back of his head against
teammate Larry Sanders' knee. He stayed on the floor for a few
minutes after the impact as he was tended to by the training
staff. Thankfully he didn't seem to exhibit any immediate
numbness or other major symptoms. Eventually he got to his feet
and walked to the locker room without assistance.

[b]CHICAGO BULLS: Taj Gibson, Bulls: Chicago may not have a
choice but to work out something with Gibson, who will be a
highly coveted restricted free agent should he hit the market
next summer. "They've made it clear they'd like to sign Taj,"
agent Mark Bartlestein said Saturday. ""They're making an
effort, and so are we ... if we can get something done that
everybody feels good about, great. If not, I'm sure he'll have a
great year."
Cleveland Cavaliers: The question now is whether he’ll get
markedly better in his sophomore campaign. Bets are on that he
will, and considering how hard he worked in the offseason, it’s
hard to imagine him not experiencing some measure of
improvement. “The summer is what makes you in terms of the NBA,”
Tristan Thompson said. “This summer I wanted to put in a lot of
time getting stronger and continuing to work on my craft,
especially in the post. Big men really only need two or three
shots—the hook shot left and right, the turn-and-face and a
counter. I worked on that all summer, and I’m going to be doing
it in the game.”
Detroit Pistons: In person, Andre Drummond looks the part of
an NBA center and it is hard not to be impressed, something that
is not lost on his new teammates. “He definitely has the tools
to be a really good big man,” Greg Monroe said. “As far as the
mental part of the game, he has a ways to go, but as far as the
physical skills, he is one of those guys who, any ceiling he
reaches, you won’t be surprised because of the physical tools he
is blessed with.”
Indiana Pacers: “The Mindy Project” — it’s not just that show
on after “New Girl.” It stars that girl from “The Office.” Yea,
Mindy Kaling, that’s her. This week’s episode featured NBA
players Amar’e Stoudemire, Baron Davis and Danny Granger hanging
out in a club. You need to really skip ahead to the 3:00 mark to
get to the good stuff, like the guys talking about romantic
comedies and the like. You know, exactly what you want to know
about Baron Davis.
Milwaukee Bucks: Brandon Jennings, Bucks: "Pretty quiet,"
said a source involved in the discussions on Sunday. Don't think
anything will happen here, given the Bucks' payout to Ersan
Ilyasova over the summer and their recent deals with Drew Gooden
and John Salmons. And in this case, Jennings may be more
interested in seeing exactly how green other pastures are.

DAILY[/font][/center]
[b]CHICAGO BULLS: Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell
Westbrook said Thursday he believed his friend and summer
workout partner Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose would
return a stronger player when he returns from his ACL injury.
Rose tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during
Game 1 of a first-round playoff series against the Philadelphia
76ers last season and had surgery May 12. Typically the recovery
time after the surgery is eight to 12 months. “Definitely, he’ll
be stronger, definitely be a lot better after seeing him this
summer, seeing how quickly he was getting better and better,”
Westbrook said prior to Thursday’s game with the Bulls. “No
doubt in my mind he will. He works hard at what he does, and
he’ll definitely come back better determined and come back and
try to be better.”
Cleveland Cavaliers: Harrison Barnes heard all the rumors
before the draft that he'd be a Cavalier. He just never believed
it. "I didn't put too much stock into that," the former North
Carolina forward said before Wednesday's game between the Cavs
and the Golden State Warriors. "You heard about it, but at the
end of the day you don't get too attached. I heard my name being
associated with a couple of other teams, too. I tried to be
optimistic going into the draft and I landed here."
Detroit Pistons: The leader of the group – the massive,
wide-bodied Rick Mahorn – was in Sleep Train Arena, calling the
game for Pistons radio, and he thought Robinson went over the
edge. "That was dirty," Mahorn said Thursday when reached on his
cellphone. "We all have mental lapses, but you don't take your
frustration out in a way that will hurt somebody. I didn't have
the physical gifts or the flight of a Dominique Wilkins. I used
my body and my width to position. I would use my big (butt) to
clear some room. "But we never tried to bust somebody in the
mouth. You don't hit somebody in the face. You don't want to be
that guy, because now everything he does is going to be looked
at. The referees remember."
Indiana Pacers: Roy Hibbert scored two points on 1-of-7
shooting in 27 minutes against the San Antonio Spurs earlier
this week. He would have been held scoreless if he hadn't been
in the right place for a put back in the third quarter after he
missed his first six shots. Hibbert had a chance to bounce back
against the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday, but, again, he
struggled, going 4-of-12 from the field for nine points. "I'm
not finishing in the paint the way I want to finish," he said.
"My teammates are doing a good job of getting me the ball."
Milwaukee Bucks: During the Bucks' 2-0 start, Brandon
Jennings was leading the way with NBA-best averages of 13
assists and four steals. The 34 points he scored over those two
games -- including a last-second three-pointer to beat the
Cavaliers -- were inspired by the failure of his contract
negotiations. "It's a humbling experience again for me,"
Jennings said of his inability to agree to an extension with the
Bucks in advance of the Oct. 31 deadline, setting up the
23-year-old point guard to test the free-agent market after the
season. The last time he had so much to prove was during the
2008-09 season, which he spent mainly on the bench as a
19-year-old in Italy. Coming off that experience, he put
together a terrific NBA rookie year in which he started every
game while leading the Bucks to the playoffs. "When I went to
Europe it was humbling, and this one now -- not getting an
extension,'' he said. "So I just go out there and play every
game and I just push myself."

[b]CHICAGO BULLS: The Bulls have a promotion through which fans
can get a free Big Mac if the Bulls score 100 points in a home
win. The Bulls won 99-93 as Noah missed his 3 with 3.8 seconds
left. "I talked to him about it, but I'm going to keep that
private," Thibodeau said after Wednesday's practice.
Cleveland Cavaliers: As for the Rookie of the Year chatter,
it’s still incredibly early, but Byron Scott isn’t surprised.
“We thought when we picked him that he would be a Rookie of the
Year candidate,” Scott said. “We knew that he would have an
opportunity to play and we felt he’d play well. He’s still going
to have some ups and downs. It’s four games into the season.
We’ve still got a long way to go. He’s on a little bit of a high
right now, but he’s going to have some nights where he’s not
playing well. We’ll see how he reacts to those, too.”
Detroit Pistons: Thomas Robinson wasn't in the locker room by
time most of the assembled media made it there. But Tyreke Evans
said Robinson did apologize to this teammates for his flagrant
foul 2 on Detroit's Jonas Jerebko that led to his ejection. “It
looked like it was a pretty hard shot,” Evans said. “Thomas said
he flopped a little bit but I don’t know.”
Indiana Pacers: “It’s one of those situations,” David West
said when asked if he wanted to remain in Indiana long term. “My
main objective is to try to win [here]. I feel like this group
has an opportunity to do that. Obviously with Danny [Granger]
out it changes and makes things a little more difficult for us
this year, but again we feel like with the group that we have
and with Danny at full strength we can compete.”
Milwaukee Bucks: In the final minute of the Wizards’ 101-91
loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, though, Bradley Beal tried to block
a shot by Monta Ellis and wound up with a flagrant-two foul that
sparked a minor fracas. NBA rules stipulate that a player
charged with a flagrant-two foul can receive a fine not
exceeding $50,000 and/or a suspension by the commissioner. It’s
also possible the league can reduce the call to a flagrant-one,
which doesn’t come with additional punishment, when it reviews
the play. “It was just a foul. I went for the ball but I got a
flagrant-two, so it is what it is,” Beal said. “I guess [Brandon
Jennings was] defending his teammate, came up and pushed me but
it’s just all a part of basketball. It’s physical but it is what
it is. I just have to deal with it.”

[b]CHICAGO BULLS: Chicago Bulls point guard Kirk Hinrich
suffered a right hip strain in the second quarter of Saturday’s
game against the Minnesota Timberwolves and did not return to
the game. Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau did not have an update on
Hinrich’s status after the game.
Cleveland Cavaliers: Byron Scott is hanging a “Help Wanted”
sign after the Cavaliers’ 106-91 loss to the Oklahoma City
Thunder on Sunday evening at Chesapeake Energy Arena. The
beleaguered coach is one step short of running an ad in the
classifieds or holding open tryouts to find somebody, anybody,
to join Daniel Gibson on the team’s unproductive second unit.
Detroit Pistons: The 2012/13 NBA Season is underway! Five
teams remain unbeaten (San Antonio Spurs, New York Knicks,
Brooklyn Nets, Orlando Magic and Milwaukee Bucks). Four teams
have yet to win (Denver Nuggets, Sacramento Kings, Washington
Wizards and Detroit Pistons). Is it too soon to take records
seriously? ”
Indiana Pacers: With all the pressure on Paul George to
succeed, it’s has proven challenging to just kick back and be
easy about things. George knows that the best players in the
league take on those expectations, and that’s exactly what he is
trying to do. “Of course I want that pressure,” he said. “A lot
of guys my age, I don’t t think they would approach the game the
way that I would. At the end of the day I do want to be an
All-Star. I do want to be the best player I can be. But most of
all, I just want to win. Whether that’s scoring 15 points and
10-12 rebounds or 20-plus points a night, at the end of the day,
with the team that I am surrounded by, I just want to win.”
Milwaukee Bucks: Brandon Jennings made headlines recently
with his comments surrounding his failure to reach an agreement
with the Milwaukee Bucks on a contract extension, but before we
get too carried away let’s make sure things are in perspective.
“Now I guess I’m kind of auditioning for other teams,” Jennings
said of the situation. There’s no denying that’s true, but
don’t take it to mean that Jennings is not on the Bucks’
long-term plans.

[b]CHICAGO BULLS: Noah broke out his playful quote on
Thibodeau: "Like I’ve said for a long time, it’s a dictatorship
out here." Noah was responding to questions about Thibodeau
riding his starters down the stretch of Saturday's victory over
the Bucks.
Cleveland Cavaliers: Kyrie Irving immediately knew something
was seriously wrong. The Cavaliers point guard was trying to
swipe the ball away from Darren Collison as the Dallas guard
went up for a shot. Instead of hitting the ball, Irving hit his
left index finger on Collison's shoe. "I just knew it wasn't a
jammed finger," Irving said on Tuesday in explaining how he
suffered a fractured left index finger that will keep him out
four weeks. "I've jammed almost every finger on my hand, so I
just knew when it started turning black and blue . . . I just
thought it was a bad sprain, but it just turned out to be
broken."
Detroit Pistons: Tayshaun Prince openly wondered afterward
why Frank didn’t respond quicker with substitutions when it was
obvious Prince and the rest of the starting five didn’t have it.
"If I was coach, I would have made the decision sooner than what
he did," Prince said in the Amway Center visitors’ locker room.
Know what I mean?
Indiana Pacers: Paul George had a monster night on Wednesday,
pouring in 37 points and helping his team to a much-needed
overtime victory over the Hornets. The majority of those points
came from three-point distance, as George hit 9-of-13 from long
range to just bury New Orleans in buckets.
Milwaukee Bucks: The Bucks don’t comment on trade speculation
but the scuttlebutt around the league is the team is trying to
move the 31-year-old Gooden, who is being paid $6.68 million for
this season and the next two seasons as well.

[b]CHICAGO BULLS: Joakim Noah has expressed interest in working
out with Hakeem Olajuwon for few years. What's expected when
does this summer: “Hakeem can absolutely help him,’’ said Frank
Rutherford, who coordinates workouts for Olajuwon and said Noah
will work out with Olajuwon this summer in Houston. “He can
increase his scoring production and his defense, without a
question.’’
Cleveland Cavaliers: League sources tell CBSSports.com that
Golden State has offered the likes of Andrew Bogut, Andris
Biedrins and Richard Jefferson to the Hawks, Cavaliers and Jazz.
The Warriors would have to unload two of the three in order to
clear enough space to land Howard in a straight free-agent
signing, and Atlanta, Cleveland and Utah essentially are the
only teams with that kind of room. It's important to note that
the Warriors, according to multiple league sources familiar with
the discussions, have indicated that their attempts to clear
space are only a pre-emptive strike in the event Howard agrees
to leave the Lakers for the Bay Area. Though the Warriors came
out of their pitch meeting with Howard and his representatives
encouraged by how their message was received, Howard's camp has
not delivered any indications about what his decision might be.
Detroit Pistons: Hakeem Olajuwon expects to work out this
summer in Houston with Greg Monroe and Andre Drummond of the
Detroit Pistons.
Indiana Pacers: The Indiana Pacers have reached agreement on a
two-year, $6.1 million offer sheet with New York Knicks
free-agent forward Chris Copeland, league sources told Yahoo!
Sports. Copeland is a restricted free agent, but the Knicks are
unable to match the offer sheet.
Milwaukee Bucks: Free agent guard O.J. Mayo has agreed to a
three-year, $24 million contract with the Milwaukee Bucks,
league sources told Yahoo! Sports. Mayo, 25, will be a
replacement for the loss of guard J.J. Redick and the expected
departure of Monta Ellis. The Bucks agreed to send Redick to the
Los Angeles Clippers in a sign-and-trade deal.
