Gothic Chess
By: GothicChessInventor Date: January 11, 2018, 12:24 pm

I was invited here by Rick Knowlton. Rick mentioned that the
owner of this board asked him to invite me. I am sure this is
the case, but I ask the board owner to please respond and
confirm.
:)
I guess now it would make sense to create a topic area for
Gothic Chess. So, here it is.

Who wants to play against a Gothic Chess Database?
By: GothicChessInventor Date: January 11, 2018, 12:28 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
As some of you might know, I am a programmer. And I solved the
5-piece database for Gothic Chess. The longest win is 268 moves
for the ending of Queen + Pawn vs. Queen.
I thought maybe someone would like to play against one of my
computed databases, just to see how tough it is to win from one
of these won positions. Let's start with something "easy," like
Archbishop vs. King.
[attachimg=1]
This is white to move and mate in 19. If anyone wants to play
either side, let me know.
I'll offer a $500 cash prize to anyone who can win in fewer than
19 moves against the program when the program is playing black,
and the same to anyone who can make their 20th move while they
play black and the program plays white.

Where can I access this computer program and try?

Just tell me your move. I'll give the computer's reply. We can
redraw the board as needed.

Boards and Pieces
By: GothicChessInventor Date: January 16, 2018, 12:07 am
---------------------------------------------------------
These are what my boards and pieces look like.
The board can be crumbled into a ball, and it immediately
returns to its flattened shape. It has "no memory" and it stain-
and spill-resistant.
The pieces are made out of high impact polystyrene, one grade
below "bullet proof vest" standards. A minor league baseball
pitcher with a 90 MPH fastball threw them at a brick wall. Only
damage was to the wall.
