Popular YouTube video about "infinite chess"
By: chilipepper Date: January 9, 2018, 7:58 pm

Has anyone seen this YouTube video about infinite chess? It's
interesting but it makes a jump to situations that are very
unusual compared to classical chess (beyond the board being
unbounded). It doesn't really explore symmetrical starting
positions (as normal chess is), and even worse it assumes the
game has no draws. It's easy to miss the assumption "playing
with some rules that exclude ties" at about 1:00 into the video.
::)
If anyone else has comments about this video, but don't want to
mix it in with the spam at YouTube (i.e. commentary from
non-chess players/non-mathematicians), feel free to comment
here. :)

And there is also this video. It's not about chess, but has a
close relation to the concept of "infinity":
(if you enjoy well-produced graphics then play in "full-screen"
and turn the volume up a bit)

For a playable type of infinite chess, see the link below for
"Chess on an Infinite Plane".
This game is actually easily playable - it only requires
learning three "new" pieces all of which have really simple
moves:
The guard moves as king (so everyone already knows its moves).
The chancellor moves as rook + knight (the simplest slider,
combined with chess's famous one and only jumper).
The hawk jumps in diagonal and orthogonal directions two or
three squares (adding another jumper to the game of chess).
See here for the game's description:
