Check it out. littered among posts shaming people for setting up
the chess board and pieces wrong in media, there are strictly
anti-chess variant posts. From mocking Courier Chess as
nonexistent (showing an obvious ignorance on the history of the
game) to remarking that it is immoral to make chess variants,
this page makes me very sad indeed. :(

It's probably tongue-in-cheek. I doubt whoever's running that
handle sincerely denies the existence of courier chess and other
variants branching off from chess.
Could be wrong. Eh, that's Twitter for you.

How chess formed according to this person: It was formed as is

They actually mocked Van Leyden for "incorrectly" drawing chess,
thus denying courier chess' existence.
