       Test Forum for Your Site

Do you have a test forum for your site where you mess about with
things before making it live on your real forum? As it's been a
while since I worked with smf, I created a test Forum alongside
this one so I can try out things and make sure I know how
something works before implementing it here so I know what to do
       or how something works.

I don't have a test forum per say but I do have my own private
staff forum on my forum where only I have access to where I can
post notes and to do lists and stuff.

I needed something more than just to do lists and notes. I
needed something bigger for practicing adding mods, themes etc.

Oh I get what you mean now you signed up for another forum on
       createaforum for testing/development purposes?
No I haven't got anything like that at the moment.

Basically yeah. For example a member had trouble registering,
and I wasn't sure if admins could register member accounts for
people, so, using another one of my emails, my admin account on
the test forum, I tried my luck with registering another member
using another email and it worked, so I knew I was able to help
that member register here by registering for them

On my old forum I was using XenForo and since they allowed
having a separate test forum, I set one up to do as you
described, testing add-ons, modifying themes, trying out
       features, etc.,

No. Never had any sort of test site.
I always do it in the live environment.
But I am also very picky about adding plugins and such.

Oh yeah, I got so many addons for it, I need to make sure they
all upgrade fine and I've had my test site break a few times,
very badly. Glad I could wipe it and start over.

Do you ever get worried about using so many addons?

That's what I love about test sites. Unlike a live site you get
to play with ideas until they turn out how you want them
