I haven't looked at free forum hosts in a while but at the time
I remember coming across one called Zetaboards. Started a music
forum on it. I liked it more than Proboards so it became my main
choice.

Zetaboards was OK, but I hated the insanely long subdomain you
got when registering a forum: name.s/zetaboards.com/index.php
it was a tad longer than my example, but it was still ridiculous

Right! I actually forgot about that. I had mine bookmarked,
wasn't going to remember that.

I bookmarked any Zetaboards forum I joined too if I planned on
remaining a member, but a long subdomain is really uncalled for.

I remember when had WebTV. My website address was like
www.shawn-gossman.webtv.com/user/website/website-name/ or
something crazy like that LOL

Most of the ones I remember were more like scripts they called
them. Kind of like guest books. Small threaded older-style forum
scripts. Can't really remember names.

but unlike regular forums, you only have so much time to respond
to said message, sort of like MSN messenger or something similar
