I remember when HTML5 came out.
One thing it boasted about was HTML5 games.
       Did they ever take off?
If so, what's your favorite HTML5 games?
P.s. Have any of you ever made one?

These kinds of games are still being made and they seem popular.
There are frameworks like Phaser that have made it easier to
       make some fun stuff.
I usually like puzzle-type games or the occasional platformer.
Last year I made a variant of a pinball game (It was supposed to
be a pinball game, but I couldn't quite work out the physics of
it :-[ ). Around this time, I came across frameworks like
Phaser (which would have helped me with my game since it takes
care of the physics for you) and started working on another
game. Haven't touched it in a while since I wanted to have
enough time to get a proper go at it instead of just fiddling
       around.

They're fairly easy to make as well right?

I think so. There's a lot of tools out there that can be used to
make these games with minimal/no-coding, like GDevelop and
GameMaker (You can also make for other platforms).
Even if you take the coding route, I think it's just patience
and time you need to get the hang of things.

They are out there, run like old flash games, but sadly it is
not something you can run on forum software.

I might have to mess around with it.
Back when I made HTML sites, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Honestly most of what I've learned is just from messing around
       with stuff.

Yeah, that's how it's always been for me.
I just try to take on big projects too much. Like I used to try
to invent a new forum software. That's a lot of work and I
       usually burn out LOL
I just need to stick to little simple fun things like a little
       HTML5 game.
