Forum Software

What all forum software have you used?
Which do you like the best and why?
I've used most of the free ones like phpBB, MyBB, and SMF. I've
used all the WordPress plugin ones such as WpForom and bbPress.
Out of all those, SMF is what I would likely use but I wish MyBB
was a bit more modern because I really enjoy how it looks.
I've used vBulletin, Invision, and XenForo.
XenForo tops it all for me. It gives me all the features I need.

The ones I've actually used as an admin are SMF, XenForo, MyBB,
phpBB, and MyBB, and I currently have two phpBB ones at the
moment.
Note: I generally like all of them, but MyBB has went downhill
lately but wasn't the case in the past.

Phpbb, Zetaboards, Mybb, xenforo, I've used quite a few of them
over the years, butt I honestly prefer smf for it's ease of use
and easy to understand permissions. I didn't purchase xenforo
myself, though, that was done with the help of a friend

When I first started my forum I used Proboards. After a while I
used Xenforo based on the feedback I was hearing from other
forum admins.

I would never recommend Proboards to anyone. I hated trying to
organize this forum. It was hard moving categories without
messing everything else up while you were at it.

ProBoards was a lot easier to use at one time.
When they first came out, it wasn't too bad.
But it's always had a lot of ads on it. I'm sure they still have
that.

They did when I was with them a month ago. Huge video ad right
under the logo.

I don't recall much since it was a while ago and I only used it
briefly but looking at it now, it doesn't seem that intuitive.

I really enjoy using phpBB. My forum uses a paid theme so it
makes it look cooler in my opinion plus it comes with a dark and
a light version.

phpBB has evolved. I remember version 1 a little bit but I was
on version 2 for a long time. You would have to work like 4
hours a day to install one plugin. Back on dialup, too!
