What’s the best way to make new friends and connections online?

Making friends online used to feel weird, but now I’ve met
better people online than some around me in real life. The best
way is just being real. No need to lie that you are a perfect
person. Join communities you actually enjoy, comment naturally,
ask questions, and don’t be afraid to start conversations.
What has worked for you personally? Have you ever made a real
friend online that you later met in person?

Forums have always been my favorite way.
Social media is designed to be viral for a little while and then
move you to something else. It's hard to build a real
relationship on there.
