Prologue
[spoiler]
Heavy rainfall fell on the soft muddy ground and splashes were
made as three cats dashed through the marshland. The eldest and
strongest one, a brown tabby tom, halted and gazed into a pool
of water. The second one, a young yet fast ginger she-cat,
peered over the tom's shoulder. The third one, a black kit,
dangled from the she-cat's mouth. "Ranger, do you think this is
safe?" She meowed, wincing slightly as the kit called out
hungrily.
"Its fine, Sage. We aren't house pets any more. You had a
kitten, and the Hind Legs kicked us out. Its time to find the
clans once and for all." He meowed, and as he did so, lightning
flashed and lit up the ruffled, scarred faces.

Chapter 1
[spoiler]
Sunlight gazed over the clearing and flashed on the cats
crowding the nursery. Few were soft faces, and all the rest were
curious, confused, and angry. A larger white she-cat cleared her
throat and pushed into the nursery, glaring at the medicine cat
with angry eyes. "Mistywater," She growled angrily. "You have
disobeyed the medicine cat code in many ways." The medicine cat
lowered her gaze, tears starting to trickle from her eyes.
"Whistlestar, I-" The leader cut in stubbernly, "-I don't want
to hear your excuses. You are demoted from your medicine cat
rank and you are exiled from the Clan." She hissed, unseathing
her long claws if the medicine cat refused. Mistywater got up,
leaving her four kits to stay on the ground, and dashed out
without a word.
A younger warrior looked at Whistlestar in disbelief.
"Whistlestar, I understand that this is ShadowClan, and indeed
one of the rudest cat Clan, but exiling our medicine cat? As
your deputy I am supposed to guide you, but I did not guide you
into this." The deputy growled at his leader. Whistlestar turned
to the wise cat. "And next will be you, Darkwing." She hissed,
barging out rudely. Darkwing turned to the mewling kits. They
were still wet, and they were indeed hungry. She looked at
Marshleg, a dappled queen. "Marshleg, you are going to start
kitting soon, and I am giving you these kits until they are six
moons, if you wish to accept." Marshleg nodded and moved to lay
with the kits, and the kits ate hungrily.
Mottlekit, a black mottled gray tabby tom, lunged at Spotkit, a
calico tabby tom. Spotkit let out a wail and kicked Mottlekit
away with her strong back paws. Then came in Echokit, a black
tabby tom. She hissed loudly and tackled Spotkit. And one stayed
behind, Silentkit, a silver she-cat. She stayed behind, laying
with her mother, Marshleg. Marshleg purred and groomed
Silentkit. "Your going to get brothers and sisters soon, and you
guys need to behave if you want to befriend them." Marshleg
scolded the tussling kits. Spotkit fell to the ground and meowed
a reply to Marshleg, "But we will be apprentices by then! We are
moving out tonight, you know." Marshleg looked at Silentkit and
chuckled. "Thank goodness for that too." She purred, drawing her
soft tongue over the kit's head. Silentkit looked up with round
green eyes. "You'll miss me though, wont you?" Marshleg simply
smiled and went to sleep. The other kits stopped playing, and
whispered to eachother. Then Spotkit came up to Silentkit. "We
are going out of camp." He spat to his sister rudely. "And you
are coming with. We are going hunting. Now come on!" Silentkit
bit her lip in reply
The kits roamed around the shadowy marshland outside, prancing
around. Silentkit looked around warily. "Guys.. Im not sure
about this.." She meowed, eyes wide uncertainly. Mottlekit
looked back and rolled her eyes, meowing, "Your just worried
because your a she-cat." He spat at Silentkit. Echokit looked at
Mottlekit, whispering, "She could be right. We don't know what
could happen to us.." Spotkit stopped, with all the others
bumping into him. He stared at a rustling bush. Four sets of
green eyes glared at the kits. Silentkit screamed, and the four
foxes lunged at the kits. Echokit let out a terrified wail,
"Guys its okay! There are f-four of us, and four f-foxes!" He
yowled loud enough for the other kits to hear. The other kits
looked at him doubtfully.
Suddenly, five warriors bursted into the clearing, lunging at
the foxes. As the foxes retreated, Darkwing, the deputy, looked
at the kits sternly. "I bet Whisperstar will have something to
say to you." He growled.

Chapter 2
[spoiler]
"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey join beneath
me to hear my words!"
The leader's voice rang out through the camp. After a few
moments, the patters of paws and the excited whispers sounded in
the clearing.
"Spotkit, Silentkit, Mottlekit, Echokit, step up please."
Marshleg quickly drew her tongue over their fur and they stepped
up proudly.
"You four have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for
you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your
warrior names, you will be known as Spotpaw, Silentpaw,
Mottlepaw, and Echopaw. Darkwing will mentor Sootpaw, I will
mentor Silentpaw, Mottlepaw and Echopaw will be mentored by
Mintshadow." She finished by grunting and heading into her den.
Shouts and yowls and cheers sounded in the clearing for the
apprentices. But all Silentpaw heard were screams and shrieks of
terror, calling out for help. She saw blackness and the spilling
of blood, and not able to handle it anymore, she dashed out of
camp without a word. Silentpaw stopped in a small clearing in
the pine forest, calming down until she saw a slick body move
through the bushes. Without a word or anything, the apprentice
launched at the dark body, digging her sharp fangs into her neck
and her claws into her shoulder. The strange cat looked back,
and stopped moving, then her gaze softened and tears fell from
her eyes. Seeing the mysterious yet familiar face break down
into tears, Silentpaw climbed off and the she-cat purred,
nuzzling her.
Silentpaw growled slightly. "Excuse me miss but what are you
doing?"
The she-cat smiled down and purred. "Silentkit its me..
Mistywater."
The apprentice gasped, ignoring that she has mistaken your name.
"Mistywater? What happened to you? How do you know my name? Ive
heard so much about you- the exiled medicine cat - from the
elders, but how do you know me?"
Mistywater bit her lip, but faced the truth. "Because im your
mother."
Silentpaw simply blinked and laughed. "No silly, Marshleg is my
mother!"
Mistywater shook her head. "No.. I got exiled... because I had
kits..."
The she-cat was serious, and Silentpaw looked doubtful. "Your
kidding. You are kidding right?"
Mistywater smiled.
