Sniper Min Engagment distance

As of October 23, 2011 the Standard Minimum Engagement Distance
for Snipers is 100ft. This is different than what we have been
training for, and we are going to have to reflect this, remember
this is only for sniper rifles shooting over 450fps as stated by
fishman in his post here

The FPS limit, for bolt action sniper rifles, is 550 chronoed
with a .20 gram BB. Any player with a bolt action sniper rifle,
over the AEG FPS limit of 450, will be subject to a 100 foot
minimum engagement distance. Also, players shooting above the
450 FPS ceiling will be required to carry a sidearm or secondary
under the 450 AEG FPS limit.
Thank You, Spartan Assault Leadership.

Now, he stated bolt action. Does this include all snipers over
the 450 fps limit? I am wonder if a DMR that is semi only would
have the same rule and be allowed to be used.

Snipers at MSAF have to be bolt action or some other mechanism
that requires you to reload between shots. DMRs follow the same
rules as regular AEGs.

Actually if you have a mosfet enhanced aeg that makes you semi
auto only then it is considered a sniper rifle as long as it
shoots over 450fps you need to use the sniper minimum engagment
rule.

When did that change? I asked if I could do that and they said
no.

As far as I know it has always been that way. Who did you talk
to? I have this info right from Fishman.

[quote] Spartan Assault only allows AEGs up to 450 FPS. If
you're over that, you need to be using a bolt action. Before we
get into a "well you should do this" discussion, we have been
over this a hundred times...we may at some point implement a DMR
rule, but for now we do not allow them.
AEG/non-bolt action: 450FPS
Bolt Action Sniper Rifle: 550FPS
