Physical training and airsoft

what is the teams general opinion on Physical training at meets?
I personally think that we need it and that it should be done.
The only reason why i would allow people not to do PT is medical
reasons. Now this PT isn't going to be a hundred push ups and
a thousand sit ups. It would be like 25 push ups, 30 curl ups,
etc.

I wouldnt mind something simple more as a warm up rather then
actual pt, but yeah I am for it. So long as it doesn't interfere
with the training itself.

I still feel that PT should be kept up on a personal level. With
exceptions of certain fireteams, that's tactics require fitness.
It also takes precious time from trainings and seeing as we only
get about 3-4 hours of training a month we need to focus on
other things.

Basically if it is part of the training itself we should do it,
but don't get so far into it that we are like killing ourselves
running, and what not. I really don't like the idea I think we
all do well with what we need to do.

well i can tell you this. Your not going to be that conditioned
to running. your going to be out of breath with that philosophy.

I agree. thats why it would only be an hour at most (depending
on what we do). PT doesn't take that long. for example my fire
team needs to have upper body strength where as fire team delta
may need strong leg muscles to run and assault.
I will not ask any man to do something that I haven't done or
wouldn't do myself.
I personally think we do need some PT but we don't need to be
fitness crazy steroid people. I want just enough so i know if I
ask my guys to do something they can do it and do it well.
besides it will make you guys look better for the ladies. I wish
i kept up with my PT from norwich and i would be defined and
stronger.

My brother and I do training together. He can carry 200lbs for
about 100 yards running. I don't focus so much on load for my
training. But, having PT for an hour a month won't do anything
for anybody except make them tired. I will say that fireteams
should have PT requirements and maybe go as far as saying we
should have a training to teach PT so people can do it at home.
But, we have so many other things to work on that we need to
work on as a team PT is not valuable enough to take that time.

spetz you brought up a good point. fitness requirements for fire
teams. true one day a month isn't going to do much but it will
be good to do so we can test you to see how you are doing.
if we did the at home work outs people would need to do them
and if they don't meet our physical standards they would have
something happen to them as punishment or something. just
because they need to meet the requirements.

If we come up with overall team requirements it might be best to
add them into the ranking system. But, I like the idea of
fireteam requirements, Because my guys have to be able to move
quickly in short sprints and longer distances so we'd be more
focused on the running component. Where as your team Chief is
more focused on load bearin so you'd be looking at ruck marches
and push ups.
