Halloo from Sameena/Samantha!

Hallo everybody! I'm Samantha, I'm 34 years young and living
back in my hometown of St Ives with my hubby and 4 year old son
Lewis (who you may have met as Venom at Geekfest, and will
hopefully meet as Root at CG!).
In real life I'm a Supply Chain Specialist which sounds much
more exciting than it is; basically I'm a buyer for the Council.
As far as my Geek credentials go I'm afraid there's not much to
tell... I've never LARPed (or even heard of it before Geekfest -
but very glad I did!), don't play any role play games whether
table top or online, and although I've cosplayed for years never
knew it was called 'cosplay' until a couple of months ago!
(sounds a lot cooler than 'fancy dress for grown ups' though
😊)
I do, however, love Star Wars, Star Trek (next gen), Harry
potter, and all the superhero movies - spidey's probably my
favourite.
I used to 'game' back in the 90s when the megadrive was all the
rage but now Candy Crush is about it!
So why am I here? Well basically I really enjoy dressing up and
making things and I love trying exciting, new stuff; generally I
seem to be attracted to the sort of stuff that leaves my
hubby/friends/colleagues going "WTF???" and LARP seems to be
fitting in well to that category! I've always fancies having a
go at battle reenactments.
Hobbies: I must admit I tend to 'flit' between hobbies. At the
moment I'm really into Geocaching, gardening, baking, weaving
bracelets and creating costumes and settings for Lewis who has
an amazing imagination and is actually much more geeky than me!!
I have some basic sewing skills and am hoping to bring some
pieces for Sameena to sell in the market place :-)
Oh, and while at school doing my GCSE drama I opted for the
Costume Design module and made a costume for Titania, queen of
the fairies, so that's given me the start of an idea for
Sameena, my Plantae counterpart.
Can't wait to meet you guys properly, thanks for all your tips
and guidance, and please feel free to give me a metaphorical
kick if I'm doing anything wrong!!
