"A vampire?" Lerryn questioned, cocking her head to one side
intrigued as this was a new creature to her ears. She smiling
she settled into the battered, leather chair the landlord has
offered and leaning forward, chin rest upon her clasped hands
she nodded gesturing she too want to hear the tale*

The priest nods quietly. "There is not much to tell, really. I
and my travelling companion, a paladin named Sir Stahlritter,
arrived at the inn, which lies just outside the duchy. The name
of the inn is " The Welcome Rest" (the priest laughs bitterly)
"Rest you shall find there, but it is not welcome, for it is the
rest of the grave! There was a secret mechanism in Sir
Stahlritter's room that dropped him into the cellar, where the
foul vampire Char was waiting. I happened upon the grisly scene,
but I was too late to save my companion. Thanks to my faith and
this icon" (the priest produces a small symbol of his faith from
his robe) "i was able to drive the vampire back...but before I
could destroy the foul beast, he made his escape in the form of
a bat. There was little more I could do that night, but sleep a
fitful, haunted sleep and, of course, make sure that Sir
Stahlritter did not join the ranks of the undead." The priest
takes a thoughtful swig of his drink. "One day, I will return
and end Char's deception of evil. And I thank you, by the way,
for the drink, my friends. Since Sir Stahlritter's passing, the
road has been intolerably lonely." The priest starts slightly,
realising something. "I never did tell you my name, did I?" He
smiles sheepishly. He holds his hand out. "Preacher Ratisbon
Schwann, at your service."

"Alas I have nought to add in the way of tales my friend for I
have not been on the road long" *Lerryn muses as she curls up in
her chair, glad of the warmth and good conversation* "I have
just started out upon my quest...I have questions that need an
answer but also a way to put coin in my purse...I have skills, I
just need someone in need of them that will employ me"

*Lerryn laughs, her smile warm, green eyes sparkle with
mischief* "I might be from a small village my friend but I have
witnessed my fair share of rouges" *She brings her cloak about
her, nesting into the chair* "The man that raised me was no
saint, nor his wife my aunt...yet if you promise no murdering
doings then I would accept your kind offer. I know herbs and
roots...also" *She taps her nose* "It is not only my ears that
are finely tuned"

*Lerryn smile to herself, it was a nice feeling to be useful to
someone again* "Once 'you' are sober my friend...or shall I call
your master now?" *She chuckled, the ale was starting to works
it's magic upon even her blood* "We need to speak of a few
matters...privately" *Lerryn glance at the priest, she meant no
disrespect but past encounters in her village had made her wary
of men of the holy order*

Well met Preacher Schwann. That must have been quite an
experience, I have heard of such creatures but never suffered
the privilege of meeting one face to face. I had always heard
that they dwelt farther up to the North East of this great
island choosing to dwell among the nobilities of the Great
Cities, (Mallificus raises an eyebrow and teases his beard
between his forefinger and thumb) some it is rumoured, even hold
positions of high office. That they venture this far South West
is news to me but assuming your Temple Elders or the Duke has
put a price on this creatures demise I might consider it more of
a pleasure than your friend Sir Stahlritter did to meet this
creature.
