LARP Locations and Quests

I was having a little think, while the main event next year will
be great fun, it consists of mainly just the area of Chaosgate
itself, while here we can be seen to be taking travels
elsewhere. It could and might be worthwhile that perhaps we
could arrange a smaller event for the likes of going elsewhere.
For instance, following a path through Troon woods, saying this
is a part of a travel on a quest, where we are ambushed or some
such.
It will negate the need to pay to go to a location, all that
will mainly be required are the H&S forms signed.

Ahem'
Yes if we sign off on liability , there is no need to worry for
insurance.
we can go anywhere we like, there is nothing stopping us from
that.

Quite. It would be better to provide some more regular meets
this way, to allow more character progression through the actual
LARP.

at least with it, we would know who we are what we are doing and
come the events can acutally LARP rather than instruct

Of course, everything you are saying is absolutely correct.
Chaosgate is a social experience and as we move forward we are
looking at the logistics of more opportunities to help develop
both character and player interaction/relationships.
Personally, I would not feel very comfortable asking members to
sign off liability. Very early on we decided that we needed to
do things correctly and that included make sure we have all the
necessary insurance/liability/crb etc in place to ensure the
safety of all involved.
On the subject of paying for events, please bare in mind that we
are are a non-profit organization. It is our intention to keep
costs to players at a bare minimum. The land we are using has
been kindly donated to us for the July event so that is not an
issue. However, amenities, insurance etc do need to be covered.
We hope to cover some of the cost without charging you. But you
have to understand that we can't run these kind of events on
good will and enthusiasm alone (Though it is always gratefully
received).
I think Troon woods is a great location and possibly, early
next year, we may find an opportunity to find some quiet public
land that we can use. Rest assured we are in discussion about
numerous events and whilst July is our focus. We hope to bring
you a lot more when we can. All we ask is that you give us a
little time to make sure that everything is in place.
:)

I think the original idea behind it was to not be heading out
under the representation of 'chaosgate' but more a case of just
somewhere to meet up where we didnt exactly have to pay for a
pint lmfao
we get where your coming from. and we respect the fact that you
are all working hard to ensure the best possible environment for
all involved.
I just think your members are hungry. and would like to get to
know everyone.

I meant more as just if anyone wants to meet up as our current
set of characters for some light LARP and of course, to get to
know each other face to face. Not as a representation of an
official event by any one organisation.

And I would whole heartedly encourage you to do so. I just
wouldn't want you to think that we are resting on our laurels
and waiting for July. We are trying to plan some meet ups and,
if we have good numbers and people interested, some small scale
LARPS as well. We just need a little time. Bear in mind,
GEEKFEST was less than two weeks ago! Also rest assure that any
small scale events that require no overheads, will be completely
free! 😊

I think it woul be really nice to have a get-together in
character without the need for insurance etc., maybe just a few
friends meet in a pub/restaurant for a chat?? Something like the
C&C but real-life and where they'll accept random geeks in odd
costumes!! Perhaps a meadery? I went with a gang of people
dressed as pirates once and we blended right in... ;-) Give us
newbies a chance to practise our RP skills before leading up to
fights & ambushes (😳) and less work to organise for our
lovely, hard working admin!?

What you have just suggested we have been talking about. Last
night we were bouncing some ideas around, we don't want to say
just yet what as we need to get it organized but trust us guys
as soon as it's in place you peps will know.
