Hey guys, well as u know I'm in the process of getting my Char
sorted (as in I know the weapons I'm using and class, ranger,
bow short sword) I know my race also, one thing though. Are
there any websites on how to make your char, like char sheets
etc. I'm a major n00b to this so any help what so ever would be
great
See ya in battle
Si

Hey there :)
A character sheet layout completely depends on the set of rules
you are using. For instance, if you were making a character
sheet for AD&D 2nd edition (like I used to) it would look
something like this:
HTML http://s22.photobucket.com/user/Bager1968/media/Game%20stuff/characters/charactersheetfront-1.gif.html
HTML http://s22.photobucket.com/user/Bager1968/media/Game%20stuff/characters/charactersheetfront-1.gif.html<br
/>
The sheet is designed to incorporate all the game rules and
modifications based on a characters basic attributes which are
normally something along the lines of: Strength, Constitution,
Dexterity, Wisdom, Intelligence, Charisma. (again that is
AD&D2nd edition)
How this will work for Chaosgate will be down to the rules that
the guys running the show will have to decide upon over time.
Everything that they have decided upon so far you will be able
to find in the 'Rules' section of the forum here
HTML http://chaosgate.createaforum.com/rules/
HTML http://chaosgate.createaforum.com/rules/
You could make a character sheet based on either your genuine
life attributes or ones that you have made up for your character
and just apply the bonuses and minuses provided in the rules
section. To give an example.. If i wanted to play a Korr (Dwarf)
Warrior I would apply the following to my character sheet:
Dwarfs. gain 3 temporary points from the reinforce cantrip, hate
sea spawned
FIGHTER FEATS
Natural:
Light/medium/heavy armour use.
Shield use.
Wield any melee weapon.
Abilities:
+2 hit points.
Ambidextrous.
Feats:
Berserk (+5 temporary hit points, must cast while inactive).
Spite (deal double damage for next 3 successful hits).
Pound (deal double damage + knockback and knockdown with next
successful strike).
Improved steel (double your armour value, lasts until end if
combat, must cast while inactive).
But as far as what basic attributes you would apply those to
(i.e. Strength, Dexterity etc.) has not yet been stated by the
organisers
Maybe we should ask them about creation of 'ChaosGate specific'
Character sheets
Obviously when we actually get together for an event we may well
have to conform to what is on the sheets (i.e. play in
character)
But it will be pretty hard for most people to play in character
if they had a Dexterity of 20 as I am sure not all of us can do
back flips and draw our weapons at the same time.
I am new to this LARP thing too so I will put a post up to
question the experts if they don't reply to this thread. ;D
Hope this helps ;D

Unfortunately there is no websites to help with this character
gen because we have devised it all from scratch but fear not as
a 'how to' will soon be on the main web page.

Thankyou for putting that Mallifucus, you have pretty much hit
the nail on the head, will are going to clarify everything. Your
character is mostly right, the only thing is that you only get
to choose one feat at level one. There will be no stats, that is
down to your own abilities and makes things easier.

Cool :D
but as far as making a character sheet goes for us to give a
visual representation to others on this forum as to our
strengths and weaknesses go, what attributes do you suggest?
I have always found the original AD&D Str,Con,Dex,Wis,Int,Cha.
to be pretty comprehensive. Should we roll with that? If so I
will write out their meanings in detail below so everyone gets
the idea. Of course, if this is the case, my Character will have
a Charisma of 18 :P

Ok so the basic stats that you should use in your character
sheet is as follows: (Subject to change by the administration
should they see it genuine and proper to do so.)
STRENGTH:
A measure of your physical strength. How much you can lift,
carry, throw, push, drag with your teeth.
CONSTITUTION
A measure of your health, fitness, recovery, endurance, pain
tolerance.
DEXTERITY
A measure of your agility, slight of hand, balance, hand/eye
coordination, stealth.
WISDOM
A measure of your worldliness, judgement, insight, experience.
INTELLIGENCE
A measure of your intellect, I.Q., capacity for learning.
(A good way to differentiate between Intelligence and Wisdom is
this:
Some people are intelligent enough to know that cigarettes are
bad for their health, they just aren't wise enough to stop
smoking them.
CHARISMA
A measure of how you come across to other people. This is a hard
one to explain because it is subjective but essentially it is
your ability to win over peoples opinion. You might achieve this
through being good looking (like me) so that you look
approachable and easy to get along with, or, you might be a good
public speaker, able to win over crowds with your compassion, or
you might simply have 'the gift of the gab' and be great at
sweet talking people despite the fact that 'you are no oil
painting'
EGO
A measure of how close your personal opinion matches the above
statistics ( ;) just for you Sage ;))
All these stat's are rated from 1-18 (Bellow 9 (3 minimum) =
Bellow Average, 9 = Bottom end of normal/average, 12 = Top end
of normal/average, 16 = Incredible !!, 18 = God like !!! And
can be rolled against, if need be for 'In Forum' Role Playing
purposes, with a 20 sided dice. (Roll under your attribute)
Apart from EGO which is rated between 1 and 10 and doesn't
need to be rolled against, it's just there for your own
satisfaction and self righteousness.
1 = Low opinion, 5 = accurate, 10 = Deluded.
Interestingly, The more honest we are with this, the more we
will have an idea about each other on the LARP battlefield lol.
Alternatively we could all random generate the stats in our new
Dice Room (

If someone wants to come up with a working ChaosGate character
sheet and post it for discussion that would be cool. If I get
the time I will have a go myself.
