       Race abilities

       So one of our initial ideas is to incorporate several 'race
       types' , each type will have a bonus and a drawback , a possible
       example ( and don't take this as an official rule),  is this:
       Undead- bonus: immune to all mind effects, drawback : cannot
       run. Example 2... Elf- bonus:sense magic, drawback, -1 hit
       point. Any thoughts?

       I like the idea. As a newbie, I'm not sure if it's my place to
       suggest ideas of this sort, but for the two confirmed nonhuman
       races (in the costume post) I thought about making the Plantae
       resistant to certain weapons (swords, spears and staves) but
       vulnerable to fire. Also, how about a "cold-blooded" rule for
       the reptilian Krauvil? In other words, they suffer penalties if
       the weather is cold and rainy, but if it's sunny, their stats
       increase?

       All suggestions are welcome Altansar. Like we said at Geekfest;
       we'd like to build this world to suit all you lovely players. So
       as far as we're concerned, the more suggestions the better -
       though we can't promise to incorporate everything! :) There will
       be more information posted on races in the next week. Our
       Webomancer is currently away, but as soon as he returns some of
       our plans will be revealed *Throws a pre-emptive handful of
       celebratory glitter* ;)

       Yep, all going well the race rules will be revealed on his
       return, plus some, if not all the race backgrounds will be
       unveiled.
       The only thing we can confirm at this time is that there will
       not be any immunities, we gave found from past experience that
       there's nothing worse than attacking a creature and belting it
       several times to then hear it dryly comment the phrase "no
       effect" GRRRRRR!
       Everything has hit points and everything can be killed,
       (something's just might need an army load of hitting first...)

       Also it's a question of balance. We would rather people pick a
       race because of the roleplay potential and not because of the
       power gaming ability.

       I agree, I picked a were creature because I find them
       interesting rather than how powerful or weak they are in combat.

       Dear admin
       I want to play and elf charictor and have just read all of the
       rules teasers (very cool)
       Allthough i want to play an elf i wanted to for backstory
       resones say my mother was a shadow elf and my farther a elf
       Can i do this and if so is it going to have any effect

       I see no problem with that, it could possibly cause some
       distrust in whichever duchy you choose but could also lead to
       some good role-playing.

       I like the idea as then those to are in his companion never
       quite know where his loyalties lie plus could be distrusted as
       well which of course leads to stories unfolding...

       I'm doing something a bit similar, Tromain is a shadow elf, but
       he is chaotic good in alignment, when the SE race joined the
       Claw he broke with them and set out on his own. So for now he's
       an unaligned nomad but has intent to join the Crown. :D
