Dead Men Walking - CH3 -The Keep
By: guest15 Date: July 5, 2016, 7:48 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Kelheim Keep.
Five miles from Kernow's border.
It is nearing seven in the evening, the rain has finally died
down, though a thin layer of drizzle and light mist remains.

Following on from a cobblestone road from Ladock, the Mercenary
and Spaniard are within sight of the Keep at long last. Their
clothes drenched, they have finally made it. The large dark
stone walls rise high, guarded by several Weigand Empire troops
and local forces. The red and yellow clothing identifies the
Weigands here as from the province of Siilvlan.
Outside the walls lie a few small farms that are being
constructed - perhaps with time this place will grow to be a
town. For now, however, it's primary purpose is that of a
gateway to the lands beyond. Though for Astandord, it is merely
a place he is forced to go to hand in his reports.
Walking alongside the Mercenary is the supposed best swordsman
in the world, Dante. With a metallic clunk, Ast goes to pat him
in a friendly manner on the shoulder.
"It seems we have finally made it."

With a slight smirk, Astandord starts to walk forward, to get
closer to the keep.
"You might find that difficult here. The only women I know of
inside the keep are a handful of State Troopers, which, are all
mostly more interested in one another than men."

He laughs a little and follows the German. "You said mostly.
Dante can persuade them to like men. Like me."

Resting hand on the pommel of the longsword, he strides up the
winding dirt path towards the gate, before being called to a
halt by one of the guards that remains on watch on top of the
gatehouse. Having been here several times before, Astandord is
recognized, and he waits for the heavy barred doors to be
opened. As he does, he looks to Dante.
"You can try, by all means. But do not complain to me if they
kick you in your balls and cut them off to turn you into a woman
too."

"They will not succeed my friend. Dante is too quick. They will
sooner fall in love with his good looks than try to harm him."

A slight snicker comes from Astandord. "I'll hold you to your
word."
The gates open, with several of the State troops holding it open
for the pair, one of which was waving them forward.
The one waving to them was a sturdily built man, standing at
around six and a half feet, covered from head to feet in
pristine plate armour. A red sash was slung from his shoulder,
diagonally crossing his chest. White, blue and red feathers
formed the plummage at the back of his helmet. He had a hammer
placed on the left side, to his belt.
"Herr Astandord , sie sind pünktlich, für einmal." The man
spoke, talking to the Mercenary.
"Ich mag dich, alter Freund zu überraschen." Astandord replies
with a smirk, he looks to his Spanish friend, talking to him.
"This is the Garrison Commander here, Captain Volchart. Old
friend of mine, i'll be going over my reports with him, you're
free to look around if you wish."

He nods, looking around. He catches sight of the armoury and
wanders over, wanting to take a closer look.

As the Spaniard walks off, Astandord moves toward the Garrison
captain, a small smile forming on his face. The two meet,
joining arms in a shake. "Es ist gut, sie Kapitän zu sehen." The
Mercenary speaks to his friend.
"Please, in the language of these lands, I am required... to...
ah'm... know of it more?" Comes the reply.
"To learn it more. Your wording is decent, pretty impressive
even. Last we spoke, you could barely ask for directions to the
local brothel." Astandord smirks.
The two men share a small chuckle, before walking next to one
another toward the Inner Keep.
"You have enjoyed a decent enough stay so far in Kernow?"
A light shrug from Ast. "I guess so. It's hard to be considerate
to the locals when two quarters of them are abominations und
another quarter are just beastiality invoking inter-racial sex
mongers."
"A simple yes would have sufficed." Volchart snickered.
"Mein apologies. I haven't seen a decent human being beside
Dante in what feels like forever. Even then, Dante is pushing
it. It's all Piskis, Elves und Chaos infused spawn, with just
other abbhorent creations in between." A slight sigh.
"You sound like you need a woman. And fast."
"Ja, und I would had there been any good human ones near where I
have been lately. The only female i've made connection with
recently is a half fox thing."
"Not your type?"
"I don't **** animals." Astandord deadpans.
The two reach the doors to the keep, a guardsman standing
outside with a halberd opening it to allow entry.

It seems that some of the weapons were being sold onward, no
longer required for use in the defenders arsenal. 'Likely taking
up space', Dante thought. He approached the Master at Arms and
asked for the list of goods and their prices. He settled on
buying a State Trooper short sword, after he felt the balance
and weight. He payed over his currency, and placed it into belt.
He then started to walk toward what he assumed was the watering
hole.
