Alleyways and Trolls!

As Saethwr approached the alley and the feet, a strange stench
reached his nostrils. One he had the misfortune to recognise.
"Damn! A troll nearby." He mutters under his breath and
considers his options. Within seconds, he steps into the
alleyway and disappears from view.

Willow was half way to the Crown and Claw when the little
foxling stopped, shaking her head, the bells and trinkets in her
hair showing her tiny but musical disagreement to her new elven
friend's words. She knew that Saethwr was only trying to protect
her for which she was grateful and blessed...but Willow had left
her small village to see the world, to help people...to better
herself in the art of healing. Willow turned around, an almost
crazy grin upon her lips...she liked the elf, he had been kind
and so she would follow him...be there if he needed
help...Chaosgate was a dangerous place and she needed to learn
to be useful..."Hiding in the inn won't help Saethwr" she
muttered almost cheerfully as the foxling perhaps foolishly
started to follow the elf as he set forth towards the shadowy
alleyway.

As the elf entered the alleyway, he could see the silhouette of
the hulking brute at the opposite end. Using his skills as a
ranger, Saethwr stood back, melted into the shadows and followed
the wall. Crouching down by a pile of refuse, a blade in each
hand concealed by his cloak. Awaiting the moment the troll was
past and exposed his back to him. Or until it just wandered
away, it's simple mind forgetting what enraged it so.

Willow wrinkled her sensitive nose at the foul stench wafting
upon the air as she approached the mouth of the gloomy alleyway.
The foxling strained her keen eyes, stomach unexpectedly
twisting up with nervous, little heart beating faster as she
failed to see the tall, slender figure of Saethwr in the
shadows.

As the breeze shifted direction momentarily, Saethwr caught what
smelt like like the scent of sweet summer grass in the air and
the doft tinkle of small bells. Slowly looking back the way he
came, he saw, from underneath his hood, the inquisitive figure
of the foxling, Willow, peering into the alley. Muttering a
Kothi curse under his breath, he realised he had to act. And
fast.

The Troll peered myopically down the dark alley. Saethwr's
natural Koth stealth kept him invisible in the dark alley, but
unfortunately, it is very difficult to hide anywhere when you're
a bright orange foxling. The troll stopped in its tracks, it's
miniscule mind confused, and started muttering to itself.
"Ere, I thought dat scaly foreign nonce sed it wuz a man 'oo
mouthed off about da trolls. But old Nrrrg don't see no man,
jus' dat fox-girl at da uvver end of da alley." The troll made a
face like a confused pig. "Unless...dat fox-girl is really a man
dressed up as a fox-girl. Yeah, I bet dat's it! Mind you, Nrrrg
'ad betta rip all 'er clobber off jus' to make sure..."
Nrrrg rumbled down the alley towards Willow, grinning widely. If
the foxling was a man, he'd be able to give him a good kicking,
firstly for mouthing off about trolls, and secondly for being a
big pansy crossdresser. And if the fox girl was actually a
girl...well, Nrrrg had never raped a fox-girl before.Might be
interesting...

Willow stood still, little clawed hands upon her hips as she
stared into the alleyway, she could smell the now familiar,
comforting scent of the elf over the stench of the huge, ugly
brutish creature which appeared from the shadows. But the
foxling's smile soon faded as the creature turned it's first
confused then almost lustful gaze upon her, shuddering as it
spoke in a slow deep voice. "Saethwr...Willow is sorry...but not
sorry" Willow muttered to herself as she hoped the elf was as
good as she guessed him to be and whispering a little prayer to
Dama and even the old gods of the Beastkin kind she stood her
ground and perhaps foolishly unaware of trolls raised a 'paw'
and uttered the cantrip 'Awe' at the monster lumbering towards
her.

With a muttered prayer to Skeus, Saethwr leapt from his
concealment as soon as the troll was near. Using his own
momentum, he jumped up and pushed off the wall, landing on the
trolls back. Sinking a keen blade into its shoulder as he did so
to give himself a better grip. As the troll bellowed with rage,
Saethwr let out a maniacal laugh. One that wouldn't sound wrong
coming from a demon enjoying the thrill of bloodshed.

Willow stood in shock, doubt in herself flooding her mind as the
troll failed to be affected by the cantrip she had cast upon it.
A little, chirp like squeal of surprise escaped her lips as
staggering back she heard Saethwr's laugh, it chilled her but
also made her more determined to help if he should be wounded by
the monster. Always her parents had disapproved of her actions,
made her feel a failure to meet their expectations...she liked
Saethwr, she tried to be brave as not to disappoint him.

A soft, quiet female voice sounded from above the troll. "Ni
yakusoku saseru." Half a second later, a strangely shaped
throwing knife, glowing purple with an enchantment, sailed
through the air and embedded itself into the troll 's neck,
hitting a vital pressure point. The troll instantly froze in
space as a lithe figure dropped down in front of Willow,
slightly surprising Saethwr. The newcomer 's eyes glittered
golden in the wan light of the alley. She seemed to briefly
freeze in place, then her eyes flickered with inner fire. With a
calm, controlled statement of "Ribon no Shi" she moved into
action. To a Den, the girl would have likely been invisible due
to the speed of her movements. Even the keener eyes of Willow
and Saethwr registered only a flickering blur as the girl danced
at amazing speed around the paralysed troll. A final dash, and
the unidentified girl stood once more in front of Willow,
watching the troll. As the trio looked on, the troll fell apart
into bite-sized chunks of meat.
Finally, Willow and Saethwr got a good look at the newcomer. She
was a young Kath, probably about fifteen, with golden eyes and a
bob of snow white hair, through which a pair of fluffy white
ears poked. A long white tail waved behind her, and in her
hands, she held a strange weapon consisting of a thin chain
connecting a metal head like that of a flail mace and a blade
like that of a scythe. She was wearing a somewhat unusual
outfit, consisting of a black, skintight bodysuit with peach
coloured panels and a high collar. Golden dragons were
embroidered down the front of the bodysuit. She was also wearing
a pair of peach arm bracers with gold trim, and a pair of
odd-looking sandals with large wooden blocks on the soles.
Turning to Willow and Saethwr, the mystery Kath spoke in
strangely accented but flawlessly phrased Kernewyk. "We should
go before the guards catch us. Follow, please."
(Translation of the Japanese phrases used:
Ni yakusoku saseru= Japanese phrase meaning"to pin in place"
Used here as the ninja equivalent to the Ranger skill "pin".
Ribon no Shi= an attack name. Literal translation is"Death
Ribbon."
