Exercise routines

OK so I couldn't find any new topics and maybe we are still
posting to the old forum but I thought I would start one.
This is a topic that I am sure will have come up before but
things change and maybe it is time to throw some new light on
it. I thought I would stick to the health angle.
Would you like to tell us what exercise you take on a regular
basis and also roughly what age and sex you are. (In other
words I don't want to feel that I am a couch potato just because
I don't do the same exercise as a 30 year old.)
My main exercise is walking the dog twice a day for 40 minutes
at a time. This includes a fast hill climb and I try to walk
fast during the whole of one of the walks subject to the dog not
deciding to stand still and do nothing.
Other than that on a daily basis I do a stretching/balancing
exercise on tiptoe whilst raising hands above my head. Lying
down lifting one leg at a time and turning toes towards face.
Every five days I do a series of bends, twists, hi-plank,
low-plank and more balance on tip toes whilst doing arm bends
and arm raising, balance on one leg with eyes open then closed.
I am trying to build up the frequency of this exercise as I
stopped doing it for a while. As you can see it is more about
balance and flexibility than building muscle. I am F in late
70s and open to doing something in addition.

Yeh
I can report on my extensive exercise routine . . . . .not a
lot, irregularly taken.
Not proud of it, but, being unstable on my pins and trying to
walk are not mutually compatible.
Not a lot yesterday
Less today
I did say irregular didn't I?
Tomorrow, I'll walk 4 miles . .from garage to home and return;
the car is in for MOT and service.
I'll be honest, this'll take me a day or two to recover from, so
I'll have to do something Thursday and Friday, or I'll seize up.
TBH I don't do enough, but motivating myself to go out walking,
where the safest place for me to walk is in the road, is a bit
difficult.
Uneven footpaths, uneven fields / grass areas generally, are all
hard work.
I have to concentrate on the process of walking, rather than
where I am and the surrounding environment.
It's a bit of a bugger really

I assume this is 2 miles each way. I can stretch the 1 1/2
miles but I get bored on the pavements and I also get bored
without a dog. I used to happily walk into town which is 2
miles but I think I am too lazy to do it now, I promise myself
I will do it when the weather is warmer but then I find an
excuse not to, too much shopping, not enough time, it might rain
etc.
Will your instability improve or is it permanent?

Yeh
Two miles each way . . . . I'm cream crackers
The instability has really been an increasing problem over the
past 20 years and is permanent.
The problem is why.
Hey ho, I'm better off than many

Wish i could. I am not too bad i go shopping and stick to
walking very close to home. Having a lung condition stops me
from exercising sadly, but i keep going do all my housework, go
out for meals, drive my car etc i just can not walk far.

I am fortunate that after my knee was done my stability improved
enormously. I have just not got back into walking anything over
2 miles. I could catch the bus into town and then walk back but
I think it would be preferable to walk into town and catch the
bus back but the buses stop early in the afternoon.

I think it is nearly always good to walk near water. Somehow
water cleans and refreshes the air. The only trouble with
canals is that even with locks there is rarely enough of a hill
climb to get the heart going.

I'm not doing anything at the moment, but plan on lifting some
weights for a few weeks just to get in shape.
Now, just to find the motivation...
