A Ninja's Intuition
By: Pluribus Date: October 29, 2019, 4:34 pm

Hei had lead the pair in the direction of the Wind Country's
coast. The two of them were able to move quickly being both
skilled in the art of Dexterity. Also their constitution being
high allowed them to move at a much further distance in between
rests. The pair would seek out the rumors around this so called
'god'.
"We are advancing nicely. We should be there soon."

She looks in Hei's direction and nods, traveling a few meters
from him.
"Yes it seems we're making good time, hopefully it will be
'smooth sailing' as they say all the way to the coast."

As the group travels through the trotted pathway towards the
Land of Wind, the leaves start to grow scarce. Lush greens, over
a mile after mile, slowly shifted to barren branches and dead
shrubs. The dirt itself looked gray, with spots of darkness on
the floor. Like onyx stabbed straight into the dirt; except it
wasn't completely solid.
It was like this for miles.. no life at all. Except for one.
'Bark!'
A small dog, black in hair and short in matching fur. It runs
across the valley of death, keeping to open ground, weaving
through the bushes and trees. It kept well out of reach of their
foul unnatural stench that sunk in by now.
'Bark Bark!'
It wasn't happy. It darts across the way, aiming to disappear on
the opposite side of the travelers, ignoring them.

Hei covers his mouth with the sleeve of his shirt. Something was
indeed rotten about this god forsaken land.
"Well, this isn't natural at the very least."
Hei spoke as he stopped pressing forward at the sound of the dog
as if it was panicked.
"A dog, no animal would willingly go into this mess if they are
going to run out like that. So that means this has happened
recent. We should look for the source. Also we should get off
the road and move along the trees to stay hidden from unwanting
eyes."
Hei turns towards Noriko waiting on her judgement.

As the air carrying the foul stench of death touches Noriko's
nose she makes an expression of disgust. She moves her forearm
to her nose attempting to block the stench while taking a look
at the area.
"The area changed quickly, i agree this is quite unnatural. I
wonder if it's the work of the rumored 'God'"
Noriko notices the dog speeding trough the desolated area.
"A dog by it self in this wasteland is quite strange, i wonder
if it was accompanying someone."
She listens to Hei's suggestions as she nods in agreement.
"Yes that would be the best course of action."

The dog continues off further in the desolation than they could
follow with their eyes. At least until it was nothing more than
an indistinguishable blip in the distance.
As the travelers move along the dead trees in the area, hoping
to escape danger, the very withered branches their sides ran
along became wirey mesh sheets that made a move for both of
their bodies. If the travelers managed to get a look, they'd see
the branches twisting in to themselves. Weaving with themselves,
even as thick as they were. They started to resemble hands, and
then a torso, and a strange wooden mask resembling a skull.
A surprise grapple from the chakra soaked bark was surprisingly
fast and lacking a notorious 'creeak'. It made it that much
harder for the targets to react.
-DC 15 to avoid grapple, str or dex save/No dodge-
Just when things seemed strange, if they looked straight ahead
of the path they were taking, there was a third bush manifesting
into a humanoid form. The further it came in its 'budding', the
more the black marks in the dirt pulsated.

{9 dex check failed}
Hei notices to late as the ravenous tendrils from the decaying
trees begin to lash out around his legs.
{15 Dex vs 13 AC}
Hei pissed off by being attacked by the creature pulls his sword
out and begins to hack away at the incoming vines (dealing 2
damage)
"Brace yourself these things are alive and I don't mean the
natural way."

Noriko got an eery feeling the closer they got to the dead
tree's, there was something about them that seemed 'off'.
Suddenly and with out warning some branches lashed out towards
her, she managed to evade their grasp at the last possible
second somehow but her partner wasn't so lucky.
"What the? are the tree's attacking us? This must be some kind
of jutsu i've never heard of sentient trees before. Are you ok
Hei?"
She grabs her katana and attempts to slash at the vines around
Hei's feet but misses."
"Damm it, they are quite fast and slippery."

Twig Blight A: The blight's vine falls to the floor, unable to
complete half of its own face. It stands at a height similar to
an adult man, looking down at its captive. The beast's vines
seem to untangle from its chest, flowing up through its neck to
elongate its mask. From the side of its face that Hei had hacked
off, the vines continue to grow out from it, weaving in to a 3
pronged claw that slashes down at the neck of the Noriko, who
still remained free
Hp: 3
Atk: Failed
Too slow to the swipe however, it just grabs air when trying to
hit the girl. However, it groans a little bit where it stands
with its vines still holding on to Hei. Who, would feel a little
bit more empty as he was pressed to the blight.
(-20 chakra for Hei)
Twig Blight B: Is drawn to the source wandering past it,
dragging its roots from the dead soil beneath it to show its
long dusty means for standing. The creature finishes forming its
body and makes a thrust of its claw towards the duo. It takes
one large push forward aiming to grapple the free one's skull.
(Nat 20 grapple roll)
The vines of the chakra creation latch on to the girl's face.
One by one, slithering across her cheeks and orifices, just
barely avoiding invading them. It closes down its hold on her
skull, even elongating its fingers to reach to the back of her
head. If she couldn't stop it, it'd keep reaching towards the
back of her head.
Twig Blight C: Comes to life like its brethren, although its the
last one to do so. The black markings at the foot of (Blight A)
draw it in, stumbling its scattered roots for toes and feet
across the dirt as it came closer. It had a similar desire as
the others. And with the two of them captured, it made a
decision to place its palm on the first captive, similar to how
(Blight B) did to Noriko. However, it took its time and wasn't
as forceful.. it's hand seemed to have a heavy aura to it.. like
the tension between magnets.
(19+1 dex roll: success)
The clasp of the third Blight was starting to feel like the grip
of the first. Draining.. and devoid of any happiness.. or sense
of purpose. Just draining.
(-20 chakra for Hei)

Nariko's face would be caught by the creature's branches as it
begins to cover it slowly. She attempts to get free of it's
grasp by attacking the creature with her sword but she misses
entirely. Muffled screams could be heard as she tries to break
free.
"Tet ofr ge!"
