There'd be no change to the kunai. Water simply dripped from it.
In the center of the river however, the ripple of the drip was
cancelled out by a stronger one that washed up neat the
traveler's shoes. The thick fog no vanished, the point of the
ripple was clear to see in the center of the flow.

Ringabel concludes the water was safe to touch from his test, it
dint seem out of the ordinary in its properties nor strange
color ect.
"Looks like it's just regular old water, hmm i should inspect
the river closer then."
He starts to walk on the water focusing chakra on the bottom of
his feet to stay afloat as he heads in, walking towards the spot
he noticed the ripple originating.
"Hmmmm lets take a closer look."
He reaches the spot and inspects the area, attempting to see
below the surface.

The traveler's foot would fall through the water like normal.
His chakra wouldn't be able to stabilize him even on the slowly
moving current. As his feet wade through the waters. The river
was about 20 feet from bank to the other. Halfway through, there
was a significant drop in the footing. Enough to submerge a
person. It slowly rose back up to ground level to meet with the
sand on the opposite end of the river.
From the center, the water begins to look Murky again, and the
ripples start to flow more often.

Ringabel swam stopping close to the ripple but not directly
above it, he submerged his head underwater to try and take a
look below the water but he could't see anything.
"Damm it i should have brought a lantern, hm?"
As he said that he noticed the ripples getting faster.
"Could something be coming up from the bottom of the lake?"
He swims away from the area of the ripple while keeping an eye
on it.
"I have no clues as to what could be causing this mist thus
far."

Under the mist was clear water, and in it was a pinpoint of mist
spewing up towards the surface. There was a little crevice of
stone in the side of the river bank that spewed out a stream of
bubbles. In the middle of the current of that bubbles.. was a
frog.
'Ffftftfft'
The frog was slowly expending its giant throat, using the
bubbles to capture an ink it spit from its mouth. The ink
bubbles ran together to the surface, bursting and releasing into
the fog seen above.
The frog was no normal frog. It spit the ink just like a
shinobi's fireball jutsu. It was even clothed! On its back,
there laid an insignia that read 'Croak'. Worn stylishly like a
vest, the frog was clearly abnormal.
Soon its spewing would end and the last of the bubbles kept
traveling to the top. He was clearly the source of the mist.

Ringabel gave the area one more look by diving this time and
going further down, what he saw left him speechless.
"What?!?! How can it be that a small frog such as this is
capable of creating such a large amount of mist by it self.
Strange i've never seen a frog wearing clothes before hmmmm,
maybe it's some sort of ninja animal like a summon. The way it
blows those bubbles reminds me of shinobi's i've seen practicing
fire release, and if i remember correctly my grandfather used to
have a canine who wore a bandanna and a coat. Well there's
really no way to tell for sure and im not about to approach it
carelessly incase it attacks, id be at a disadvantage in water
and my mission was only to investigate the origin of the mist
nothing more. I believe this mission has reached it's end, time
to leave this river get dry and get a good nights sleep before i
report my findings to the town."
Ringabel swims to shore and gets out of the water as he walked
back to town, there he took off his wet clothes and set them out
to dry near a fire where he rested until morning. Come morning
he met with the towns leader after asking around and told them
what was causing the fog at night. With his mission completed he
grabbed something to eat before leaving town.
