After the Battle

Miles leaves through the front door of the academy. She had
gotten her headband and finished up her paperwork, making her
officially a Genin. Holding her headband in her hand, she stares
down at it as she heads for the road.
"With this, maybe I can make a decent living."
Her thoughts are momentarily interrupted by a violent rumbling
from her stomach. She places a free hand over her belly, biting
her lip as she resists the urge to whine.
"Well, it won't feed me until I get a mission. Maybe I can get
the dirty old man in the park to buy me ramen tonight."
She lets out a sigh, growing silent as she tries to figure out
what she could do for dinner.

"Gah! I'm starving!!! You too right Shiro!?!"
A loud voice could be heard behind her, quiet familiar to her.
The dog and boy combo from the earlier class was approaching her
direction, they seemed to have been exiting the building as
well. Iec's head band as been tied around his forehead. In
response to his earlier question Shiro barks in approval,
resting atop Iec's head. Iec glances forward for a moment
noticing the girl he had just faced.
"Ah! It's you! That spear girl! You put up a good fight earlier!
Glad to see we both passed."

Miles is surprised to hear someone call out to her, and more
surprised to hear someone refer to her as 'Spear Girl'. She did,
in fact, have a spear that easily dwarfed her attached to her
back, though it was ragged and looked like it could fall apart
any second.
"Spear girl? Who does this guy think he i--" She grumbles under
her breath, then turns to face him with a wide smile on her
face, interrupting her talking to herself. "Oh! Big brother!
Yeah, it was a great fight. You're so strong. I wasn't expecting
it at all."
She slides her headband into a pocket on her cloak, offering Iec
and Shiro her full attention. She offers a wave to the dog.
"And your dog is so cute. I'm sorry you didn't get to fight too,
puppy. I bet you're strong too."
She piles on the compliments without restraint.

Iec tilts his head when she calls him big brother.
"Eh? We're like the same age no need to call me big brother!"
He crosses his arms as Shiro gives a playful bark in return to
her compliment.
"Hey!"
Iec glances up at Shiro in annoyance.
"He thinks you did good as well and felt like you should've
won."

"We're the same age? Ah, maybe I'm smaller than I thought."
She was legitimately surprised at his comment. Not only was she
only nine, but he was an entire foot taller than her and more
than twice her weight in her malnourished state. She glances up
at Iec, silently measuring the difference in their heights.
"You thought I should have won? No, no. He's so much more
skilled than me! I was really impressed. Thank you again for the
lesson."
She bows her head slightly in thanks. As she stands back up, she
changes the subject.
"So, um, where were you heading anyway?"
Her stomach growls suddenly, prompting her to avert her eyes as
a red tint crosses her cheeks.

"Hmm? You hungry? After a good workout some good food is great!"
He lifts his hand up placing it down onto her head with a smile.
"We were about to go get some food! How about I treat ya' to
some ramen as thanks for a good fight, ya?"

Miles' eyes light up at the offer of food. She barely manages to
stop herself from drooling, speaking in order to cover it up.
"Really? You'd do that for me? I'd love to join you!"
She grins up at him as he pats her head, then turns towards the
gate.
"Are we going right now? Can we?"

"Yeah let's go! I'm starving! Right Shiro?"
Shiro would bark lazily as if to agree with him, he takes a step
forward to lead the way towards the ramen shop. He looks over
his shoulder motioning the girl to follow him.
"Let's get to it.... Spear girl..? Not even sure what your name
is!"

"My name is Miles!"
She follows after him with a spring in her step, practically
jogging to keep up with his longer strides. Her spear bounces up
and down on her back as she walks.
"What's yours?"

"My names Iec and this is Shiro!"
Iec smirks as Shiro barks in agreement. As they move further
away from the academy the way towards the ramen shop start to
become more and more crowded.
"Stick close don't get lost. You're pretty small so stick
close!"
