I like it. I have a blue and white XL12. The paint looks like
the day it rolled off the line. I take it out and make a few
cuts with it every month or so. It goes pretty well, though it
       is heavy for the displacement.

Not a fast running saw and even though theyre heavy, they seem
       to have some torque.
I love the way they sound ;D
I run mine every now and then for a few cuts just to hear it
       run.
       I need a new sprocket :-\

They were a rock solid design and the most copied saw of all
       times .
It most likely was Homelites answer to competition for the
McCulloch 10-10 and thusly both companies sold them by the 10's
of thousands if not by the millons .Every so often you run
across somebody still using one to cut firewood .
As common as they once were I'd think finding a sprocket would
be relatively easy to find .

Before and after... Found this in a junk pile, told myself I'd
get it goin. Boy does it run!! Loud bugger, not much of a
silencer on these old ones. Oh well, don't stand to the right
if its too loud. Huh? What? I can't hear you!?

Nice restoration job .This saw was Homelites answer to the
McCulloch 10-10 and they sold a boat load of them .It's also the
most copied saw design of all time .
It may be an urban legion or it may be the truth but rumor has
it that the same guy that designed this saw also sold a similar
design to Lombard ,Remington ,Poulan and perhaps several others
.The displacements were different but the basic design was
       exactly like the XL-12 .
I haven't seen an actual XL-12 in years but in my teen age years
       they were very popular .

I like the color blue they used on those saws. 8) My 69 camaro
       was about the same color.

One of my customers is an XL12 guy I've sold him six or seven.
XL12 is 54cc and Super 12 is 58cc if I remember right. He loves
the little ear drum busting stack muffler. Dang good saws they
have cut a lot of wood. Got a super in a box on shelf butit's
       way down on the list.

I'll have to say there was boat load of wood cut with those
things .I've never seen one with just a spark arrester but then
again as I said I haven't seen one in running condition for
years .Actually haven't seen any at all .

I have it's twin in the shed but mine does not look near as
good. The guy gave it to me when the shop wouldn't take it in
for service. I even got the owner's manual.
