Stihl 250 easy start
By: Chainsawrepair Date: December 15, 2025, 6:31 am

Traded the echo 3510 for another easy start saw. Dad cant get
the spring assist saws started by other makers.
His 180 easy start is so much easier to start. The spring assist
saws stop on him mid pull with bad shoulder.
So took this easy start stihl 250 with the tool less clutch
cover too. Dad likes that tool less cover on his 180. I'm not a
fan of that part.
Hopefully they both get where going with this time of year.
Traded with a guy in TX I know in my group.

Saved info from one I worked on in 2012 = It pulls over very
easily out, it stops then it rotates to start it. Like I was
winding something up. I will be here to about 5pm if you want to
check it out.
Has H L LA carb which is good but H was against stop and turning
14.8K :o :o Got out the dremel and fixed that, now turning
12.5K.
I can see the easy start being useful for some people. I think a
think a 3 year old could pull them since they are so easy IMO.
Jim you can come check it out if you like.
Jim = The "Easy Start" on the Stihl 250C that cut4fun had at
his house this afternoon was unbelievably easy to pull. Not
being accustomed to it and owning a regular 025, I pulled the
cord all the way out and let the handle go back into the
starter. Then the engine turned over and started as the Stihl
250C was stihl warm from being run earlier. I shut it off and
restarted it several times this way.
There is no compression release or Elastostart on this one for
it is not needed.
It would take a mighty stout woman to start my regular 025 for
it has very strong compression and no compression release. If it
is cold, I have to start it on the ground.
I have a Dolmar 5105 that is supposed to be "Easy Start" and it
has a wrap spring between the starter pulley and the crankshaft
but it doesn't work as easy as the one on the /Stihl 250 that I
used today.

I think that stihl 250c easy start I traded for will clean up
nicely.
Hopefully be easy to start for dad too. Little harder then the
easy start 180 I gave him years back.
Going to replace those purge bulb lines with echo oem ones.
New purge bulb and Denso plug put in to check things. Start up
in couple pulls. 😎👍
Might get him a new muffler set too.
Question on carb. I didn’t remove stuff to look.
But air filter cover shows H L and I.
Going through L hole on handle. I don’t see anyplace going
through top cover for a L on carb area.
Might have to pull it all or just black rubber to tell.
Any info?

Stihl 250C IPL
HTML https://www.diyspareparts.com/parts/stihl/diagrams/ms250-c/
Looking at IPL 3 carbs showed and 1 WT-215 does have H L. Other
2 do not. So now I need to know if I have a C1Q one or not.

New muffler ordered.
Muffler was getting loose and caused some melt on the plastic.
But nothing through as far as I can see.
Piston is sweet
If get time might pull everything in back to see what carb of
the 3 it has.

This Zama on this easy start 250c stihl seems like it maybe
fully adjustable. Is that what I am seeing?
Weird carb I am not used to seeing so wondering.
Corey confirmed in my CR group he just had a zama on a 250c in
too that was fully adjustable.

Just so you know if you come across one with H L and I on zama.
Their 250c IPL shows it. 24 L, 25 H and 23 I

I left all those springs out of the 2 purge lines. I can see why
they were in it though. The black oem echo lines seem to work
without it.

Also just to show. The 250c manual does show the walbro and zama
fully adjustable carbs too.
Not just the zama non H ones shown in IPL.
Lower is what this saw has and what others in my group has seen
in 250c they worked on recently.
