Old Poulan 3400: Are these really the mix ratios I should be usi
       ng?

The manual (a digital copy, I don't have the original) for this
saw says to mix at 16:1 or 32:1 depending on what type of oil
being used back in the day (I don't know the year of this thing
but it's older, mid 80's or older). I use this thing so little I
don't care what oil is best, it's going to be a one and done
type of thing so I'm willing to buy something good. Amsoil says
100:1, I'm not doing that little no matter what they say. Can I
just assume quality FD rated 2-stroke oils today are at least of
the quality whatever their 32:1 oil was from back in the day and
mix at 32:1? What happens if I run the Amsoil at 32:1?
I'll be using ethanol free 89 gas for mixing.
       Thanks for any help here!

I use 40:1 in them. I also use 40:1 in everything OPE.
I would do 40 or 32 and just tune to what ever your mix is.
Use a good FD rated oil. Me VPracing or Poulan synthetic.
Since you ask this too. - I also have had no issues testing 40:1
Trufuel. Just make sure your getting the real deal and not
something that has been returned as colored water by some idiot.

Thanks Cut4fun! An update to close this one out...
I was able to secure, according to the BP station, 89 octane
ethanal free gas. I went with Echo Red Armor at 40:1, it was
easily available; I was going to try and order a quart of Amsoil
Saber and basically have 2 cycle oil for life but then I saw (no
pun intended :) ) that they haven't even bothered to get it JASO
rated, so why reward them for their laziness...ridiculous.
I did have to adjust the High (Low seemed fine to me) about
1/3-1/2 a turn, again, I just earballed it I really have little
idea how to tune...once I did that it ran fantastically.
Thank you for the help and info you provided!
       Chuck
