So who is having to repair their lawn eq already?
Have the 50" 23hp Kohler rider apart for steering parts. Wife
was like I think you need to fix this. it no longer steers.
Least I have several back ups on hand. ;D Learned to do that
the hard way in the 90's.
Also while cleaning the air filter I found a bigger type ball
bearing inside the air filter and just outside the carb inlet.
Thank goodness it didnt get sucked in. :o
Where in the world would such a big ball bearing come from
inside that area? Some kind of check valve ball where pvc runs
into carb area? ???
Both steering parts in and mowing again.

Anyone know anything on that good size ball bearing I found?

Never seen big ball bearings in a air filter?
I got a new big wheel push mower direct from the MTD push mower
factory in Tupelo, Mississippi today. The engine has no oil drain
plug. I guess you turn it up on its side to drain the oil? It
was made a couple weeks ago. Put oil and gas in it - started
first pull. Automatic choke - no primer pump. Weighs 75 lbs
delivered by UPS. Doesn't look like any parts are
interchangeable between this B&S 190cc engine and the other one
I have that is 10 years old.

I bought another 190cc B&S engine. This one was made close to
Thanksgiving 2012. It is a lot like the one on the MTD mower I
bought some 3 weeks ago.
This new B&S has a drain plug and it also has a throttle
control. It is a choke start just like the one from three weeks
ago. After installing and putting oil and gas in the engine, it
started first pull. It came from Equipatron and was the cheapest
one I found.
I decided against trying to repair the 10 yr old engine that
someone burned up. It had a knocking rod as well as extremely
high oil consumption.
This mower has the bag option but no bag. I like to use the bag
for leaves in the fall because the mower cuts the leaves all up
before blowing them into the bag. The cut up leaves do not blow
around in the winter like whole leaves do. The prices that MTD
gets for these bags ($105) is out outrageous. They look like
they are worth $20.
The bag is a PIA to use on grass as you spend all your time
emptying the bag. The mower is a mulching mower and does a
pretty nice mowing job just to leave the bag on the shelf. The
cut grass stays basically where it was cut. You can attach a
chute on the side to blow the grass to the side if you desire.
These bagger jobs I have are the big wheel type. The 10 yr old
one has 14" rear wheels and the new one has 11" rear wheels
I've used a MTD bagger type mower for leaves for several years.
I have a riding lawn tractor for normal mowing duty.

I forgot to mention but this new lawnmower engine had a shielded
ignition system???

I about threw the smaller curved shaft mac trimmer the other day
when pulled down for it's first use of the year :-X. Company
was coming in from out of town (that I hadnt seen in 20 years)
and I was going to trim around :P.
Not............. tore into carb and into my carb kit parts left
over and didnt have any good dia's left after several tries. So
carb kit was ordered.
Trimmer won for now............Rd 2 coming up.

been using for a spare part now and then. You know where I'm at.

Actually those little 28 cc Mac trimmers aren't that bad .Fact
just last summer I rebuilt the carb on one for my bud the
trimmers lady . I gave it to her .She is a little woman and
those straight shaft Stihls he has are just too much for her .
Coincidently at the GTG last Saturday a guy gave me another one
plus a blower .Carbs I'd imagine .
Now why is it you can have 50 carb kits lying hither and yon but
you never have the right one ???

Zama has more different diaphragm designs than Carter had little
pills.
A few of those 28 and 32 Macs had Walbro's. Almost all had
Phelon ignitions. The carbs had 3/8" venturi's where as the 32cc
chain saws had a 7/16" carb.
Oh what an annoying company that is .If you don't have
each and every number in order you will not get the correct
rebuild kit .Some of the parts will fit though .
I think I have 3 or 4 Mac trimmers in various states of
disrepair and I think they also have WT Walbros.Matter of fact
so does my 024 Stihl saw plus I believe the s-25 Poulans lying
on my workbench .Last time I ordered some kits I should have
bought a dozen instead of just 4 .
