       1st mow spring time fun mowers trimmers etc

       Got to love spring  :'(  Got the trimmers out and on one the
       primer bulb said sorry I'm all cracked up after trying to use.
       Went to remove and the fuel lines fell apart  :D.  Ordered
       primer and ran new lines to still use with old bulb for now.
       Put new deck belt on riding mower. Smoked it on PTO pulley  :o
       worked and worked and couldnt figure out wth.  Would kill it
       when deck engaged or smoke it when not. I was lost.
       Well today I go online and look up a IPL of mower deck. DUH!
       ::) had belt on wrong around one of the idler pulleys. Works
       good now except for that vibrations after smoking the freaking
       belt. So just ordered a new belt too.   ;D

       I hear ya! Gonna be the 4th time I've mowed here in KS coming
       this weekend! With the rain could be mowing twice that.... But
       am impressed with the bigger hydro&electroclutch pulleys I put
       on my Dixon rammag44. Nice combo with 23hp Kohler command I
       installed 2 years ago....

       So who is having to repair their lawn eq already?
       Have the 50" 23hp Kohler rider apart for steering parts.  Wife
       was like I think you need to fix this. it no longer steers.
       Least I have several back ups on hand.  ;D Learned to do that
       the hard way in the 90's.
       Also while cleaning the air filter I found a bigger type ball
       bearing inside the air filter and just outside the carb inlet.
       Thank goodness it didnt get sucked in.  :o
       Where in the world would such a big ball bearing come from
       inside that area? Some kind of check valve ball where pvc runs
       into carb area?  ???

       Plenty of repairs already this year.  Personal mower got tie rod
       bushings, steering bushing, hydro belt, center spindle and other
       odds.  Grass has already grown more this year than last

       The more stuff you have  the more you have to work on things
       .I'm going to need to put a new diaphragm pump element on my 18
       HP Briggs .Those fuel pump diaphragms last about as long as  saw
       diaphragms ,couple three years .Cheap though ,couple bucks .
       Ha I've got an old 12 HP single on a 38" rider I've beat the tar
       out of which usually is just to pull the leaf vacuum in the fall
       .The spindles are bent so it doesn't mow level . The yard
       doesn't look so good but at least it gets clipped until I get
       the 18 HP going again .
       The rest of the stuff works great ,Echo weed wacker and two
       Stihl blowers ,BG 85 and a BR 400.

       I had three step kids and step grand kids working in the yard
       today.
       Had to keep reloading the Echo weed whacker head.
       Being as I'm somewhat elderly, while the grown kids where
       weeding and stacking fire wood, I worked on a 2003 MTD high
       wheel combination push mower that my oldest son bought from CL.
       It ran at the seller but wouldn't start when he got it home.
       Pulled the plug and it was completely fouled and the air filter
       was stuffed. Cleaned the plug and it started right up. Nice
       almost new looking mower for $15 delivered. But the engine is
       shot. Smokes somewhat. No bag and the side chute adapter is
       missing. It is a mulching mower! Mows nice and the blade is
       good. A new bag with frame is $100 plus shipping. I'll just keep
       it around as is - as a loaner (I have seven kids and 12 grand
       kids)  as I traded him a running, older, economy mower for it.
       It has a B&S 6 1/2 hp engine. I can see that the oil dip stick
       is a real problem to get a true oil level reading. You need to
       sneak up on it on a calm morning before it is moved and gently
       remove the stick.  It was probably run low on oil at one time?

       660, possibly gumed rings? Maybe a bit of running with a decent
       internal cleaner.....previous owner may have ran cheap oil in
       it.....

       Could very well be stuck rings. I don't think it had much use in
       the last 10 years. I was going to try using it. The engine is
       governed at 2800 rpm. It doesn't run very fast.

       Those danged dip stick oil fills it's real easy to over fill
       them .Dumbest thing Briggs ever did .
       Now I have no problem with the metal tube type like the 11 HP on
       my splitter .Nothing but problems with the plastic tube type on
       my mower engines .
       On gummy rings you can change the oil to fresh and add a couple
       oz of Kroil and in enough time it will eat through the gunk .
       About every two three years I drain all the oil ,put in straight
       kerosine and roll the engines with the plugs out because they
       are electric start .It helps .Of course don't start it with a
       crankcase full of kerosine ,put oil back in the thing first .
