       Purgers going bad

Why do purgers fitted on carbs fail so quickly?
So many carbs replaced where the culprit was the purger. It is
usually the inlet valve on the purger that fails and when that
happens the metering diaphragm no longer gets pulled down by the
vacuum created in the metering chamber, because that leaking
purger valves bleeds air back into the metering chamber.
I have tried getting the valves working on these purgers. Used
every solvent and detergent I could lay my hands on, except the
waters of the sea of Galilee! Tried carb cleaners and WD40 too.
Toilet cleaners, hand soaps, dishwashing fluid, ether, thinners
       of all grades.
It was not a total failure though. The two on the right have
       their valves functioning properly.
I just cannot afford to keep replacing carbs on my machines nor
for my customers, especially on 4Mix engines which seem to be
looking for any reason to quit running

Like your seeing there. Only the stihl design ones I have seen
       this on here too.
Other brands never see this yet. Knock on wood.

One unique carb cleaning method used by some people here is to
immerse everything in a detergent solution and raise the
temperature just below boiling point then flush out the carb
using a syringe and water. I have never tried this , maybe i
       should
