Husqvarna 372 XP X torq. testing.

So I have been working on this 372 XP and it acts like it has a
bad air leak somewhere.
I was going to check the crankcase to see if it will hold
pressure. So, what have you guys done to block of the intake.
The exhaust and impulse are easy, but the intake is a little
different on this thing.

There is a oem tool and Nick makes a 3d printed one too.
I'll see if I can find them. They are posted here in a pic.

Ok Kevin thanks. I like the idea of using a socket and
compressing it up tight against the intake using the carb
screws. I think that would be the easiest to make. I
already have a spark plug that I modified a long time ago for
pumping the pressure into the crankcase.

Ok so I modified a socket that should work and have a block off
plate to fit over end of the socket with a piece of rubber.
I will take it into town on Monday and try it out. Should
work.

Went into town today with socket in hand.
What I found was the base gasket leaking like crazy on the
clutch side right below the transfer port.
I could not get it to build pressure with a hand pump, so I
hooked up a compressor to it and would blow short burst of air.
Then I could see the soapy water moving around. I also found
the screws that hold the oiler in place go right into the crank
case and I had to put the screws in place to stop air from
there.
I will do another pressure check on it after repairing the base
gasket. I also checked the cylinder bolts, and all were tight.
So, who knows what someone did before I started looking into
this saw. This is one case where a pressure test was the only
way to find out what was going on.

Have seen the sucked in base gasket deal here before. OEM and
farmertec on 372's

Installed the new base gasket with a little yamabond. Let it
sit for 24 hours and the saw fired right up and tuned in real
nice.
