       Stihl MS271 Clutch problem !!!

       Hi Guys,
Just a quick question for you :-)
I have just started cutting wood to get ready for this winter, I
was using my trusty MS271 (about 12 year old now) was using it
today, outside temperature was 34C (phew!!)
I cut about 3 cubes of 1 meter logs into 50cm pieces, ready for
my splitter. Was just on the last one and the chain stopped
moving and the motor would not drive it.
Switched off, left it to cool and now the chain just free
wheels, even with chain brake on, I am guessing it is the clutch
       that has packed up !!
BUT after leaving it to cool for 4 hours the chain is now held
by the chain brake. I havent fired it up yet, in case if its a
bust clutch I may do some damage!!
Also, is it possible the clutch can get hot and stop working, it
was a hot day and used it solid for approx 2.5 hours, and it
maybe OK now its cooled ? ::)
I have my MS390 I can use in the meanwhile and my baby McCulloch
too, so not in a hurry, but a Dutch friend is coming up to
France in 4 weeks to help me fell a load of Chestnuts, so hope
to have the 271 back working by then.
As always any tips, First action to take etc. greatly
       appreciated.

       Quick update fella's
Stripped it down this morning and lucky to find it is just the
Sprocket that has parted from the rim/sprocket, but while I have
it offline I will change the clutch, needle bearing etc.
Not sure why it happened, I never stress my kit, that's why it
is still in good order after 12 years :D
       Cheers 8)
