Sleeves for saw cylinders An alternative,

My apologies if I am still worrying this same old bone 😁
In my last post i had asked about the possibility of recoating
the cylinder with chrome or Nikasil.
Unfortunately no potential shops to do it here. Additionally, no
shops to tool the bore perfectly for re-chroming.
But then my tool shop friend suggested something else
Cast iron or aluminium sleeves or rather tubes at required ID
and OD and thickness. Could be chrome or Nikasil coated .Very
much doable . Slice off the required sleev and using a port map
get the cutting shop to use their laser to cut the ports, then
press this sleeve into the cylinder. Preferably aluminium since
expansion difference of CI and aluminium would not arise.
Engineers please advise since I am a cook dabbling in rebuilding
saws .
