1993 009 Stihl Chainsaw Parts List with Diagrams
By: Crufone Date: January 2, 2020, 10:46 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Hello,
I just joined this list and am looking to find a parts list with
diagrams for this saw. I purchased this saw new and am having
some issues with it. Rebuilt carburetor, installed all new fuel
lines and filter, cleaned muffler spark arrestor, new air
filter, new spark plug. I can not get it to run for very long.
Last time I tried it became so flooded it developed a hydraulic
sieze. Had to remove the plug and drain out the fuel. I am
dumbfounded about what is wrong. I just discovered that it has
a tank vent so I will look at that next. Any advice appreciated.
I used this saw regularly until 2015 when it would not idle and
kept stalling. That is why I cleaned out the carb and installed
new gaskets. Michael Connolly

Hi Michael
Which carburetor do you have on your saw? I think a Walbro WT
series? Normally the lever height has to be on the same height
as the carb body. Did you adjust the metering lever height in
the carburetor correctly? If the lever is set too high, the
engine will flood badly.

The Carb is a WT 29. I was a bit confused about how to adjust
the lever for the needle valve. Is this explained thoroughly in
the Service Manual? Are there any tricks to this adjustment?
Now that I have more information I will retrace my work. Thank
you for your response. Could a clogged tank vent cause this
problem or the opposite = too lean?
Michael

The bad idle and stalling can be the result of a clogged tank
vent. If the tank vent is clogged, the tank gets a vacuum and
that can cause stalling and running issues, because not enough
fuel can be drawn. In a case like this the mixture gets too
lean. I have attached a pdf, where it is shown how to adjust the
metering lever. Normally a gauge like in the picture is used for
this. Important: The lever should just be touched by the gauge,
it must not open the lever and needle.

Hello DNX800,
The guage looks like an inverted W. Are all the legs of the W
the same length? Can I just use a straight edge to set the
lever? If I set the straight edge across the carburetor body
will this not achieve the same thing? Thanks for your patience
and help. Michael

I see on my W gauge that the middle of the W is a little bit
longer as the 2 other legs. I think it is possible to use a
straight edge and put it on the carb body. Try it. Adjusting
these levers can be a little bit tricky and often it has to be
done 2 or 3 times until the right level is reached.

They are cheap and very handy. They make them for W and Z Zama
Way you use it depends on carb WT HD etc for lever height. As it
goes on the other sides too.

Cut4Fun & DNX800,
Next question where do you purchase them or can they be made
with the proper dimensions?
Michael
