       Late 064 differences
By: trappermike Date: May 4, 2019, 5:06 pm

Near the end of the 064 run, here in western Canada they were
sending our dealership different versions of the 064,I think
       they were testing different parts.
The 3/4 wrap(handlebars) and full wrap versions had different
cylinders and carbs. One had a chrome cyl.,one hada nikisil
cyl.,one had the usual WJ carb, one had the new Bing carb.
For my best customers I built new modded saws with the chrome
       cyl. and Bing carb.
The Bing carb was a beautifully crafted piece and ran well,I
liked the chrome cyl. over the nikasil, because the nikasil was
often ruined after a siezure where the chrome cyl. always
       survived.
The Bing was a carb "par excellance" where as the WJ had
metering faults on many models. I collected all the Bings I
could for use in hotsaws but a few years ago my supply ran out.

A buddy of mine was telling me theres 2 different crankshafts
for 064s, one that has a washer behind the clutch and one that
       doesn't. Can anyone confirm? Thanks

I don't remember any extra washer under the clutch. Stihl may
have gone to an extra ball in the main bearings,Stihil used the
teflon cage in their bearings then, far superior to the old metal
caged beariings Husky used. Stihil also used "tighter" main
bearings than Husky or others . Stihl bearings had a C-2 rating
(tighter tolerance) the others used looser C-3 bearings.
