so is this the true way? older way I read before too in 2nd pic
How To Perform An M-Tronic Reset ;
Many of the M-Tronic machines can be reset to standard factory
settings by following the steps below:
1. Put the machine in the Cold start position
2.Start the machine and run it in the Cold start position for at
least 90 seconds
3. Do not touch the throttle or accelerate the saw during this
time
4. After 90 seconds, switch off the machine
5. Your machine is now re-calibrated and ready for operation
For newer M-Tronic machines (such as the MS462 chainsaw) the
process is different so check your Owners’ Manual to make sure
that you are following the right procedure. The procedure for
newer models is listed below:
1.Ensure the chain brake is engaged (on)
2.Put the machine in the Cold start position
3.Start the machine and run it in the Cold start position for at
least 30 seconds but no more than 60 seconds (the period marked
as A in the diagram below)
4.Do not touch the throttle or accelerate the saw during this
time
5.Disengage/release the chain brake
6.Open / squeeze the throttle fully for at least 30 seconds (B
in the diagram)
7.Engine speed varies noticeably during calibration
8.As soon as the engine speed drops noticeably (C), release the
throttle back to the idle position
9.When the engine is back to idle speed, engage the chain brake
and switch off
10.Your saw is calibrated and ready for operation

2016 and newer and 2016 and older take 2 different procedures.
2016 and newer are the new series with the new style sprocket
covers and further laid back cylinders on the 261 362 and 462.
Good video here on the 2 procedures.
