Jonsered 2171

A local has a Jonny 2171 for sale. Going to look at it if we can
arrange a time. His asking is $475 but I feeling that is a
little high. From the pictures it looks like all the paint is
still on the clutch cover, no damage to the plastics and just a
couple of nicks in the handle bar cover. Can't determine what
brand bar is on it but it might be a Tilton. Standard non heated
handlebar. What are you gentleman seeing for prices and should I
pass and look for a 2172 or something else in red and black? Is
2005 thru 2011 about right for the production dates and are
there any to avoid?

I like the 2171 and if it is good running shape that price is

In the other 2171 thread. I sent this one down to a guy in TX
trying to beat hurricane debbie in.
Think I sold PHO 350 and new b+c 50 plus shipping many years
ago.

Pulled the trigger a couple of weeks ago and finally finished
the cleanup and refresh on the lines and filters.

Anyone know if the saws equipped with the roller chain catcher
also had the aluminum 'sharks tooth' catcher?

Picked up a 02 jonsered 2171 that was sold new in Dec 05 with
20" to homeowner north of me.
You can see where the saw has lost a fight with a tree or limb
etc at one time. Case broken off above metal tag, Below oil cap
at bottom of case and right at rear of oil cap case lip. Handle
is tweaked some imo. Missing the top recoil faster, piece that
goes inside - pivot deal and top right recoil bolt is wrong. 2
top left cylinder cover fasteners were wrong ones. Back left one
appears stripped hole.
Saw cuts and runs as it should. Piston an cylinder still looked
new inside.
Guy I know had sold it to a friend of his and replaced the 20"
D009 with WRONG new 24" K095 set up for his needs of cutting up
a pine he said. I didnt even catch it till I went to pull down
after test cutting and thought wth to myself. That bar gave up a
fight coming back off. 😂
Well the guy got the saw traded back in with some gun stuff
today and he shot me a text.
Going to sell the whole shebang here pretty soon. 2171 PHO could
be ran as is if you are not one that has to have a prefect
looking saw. I tested it with 24" buried in dry ash.
The new 24" K095 bar is wrong bar for saw and chain is going to
be sold too.
