       Tanaka ECS 3500 Oil pump
       By: joe_indi Date: January 27, 2018, 1:03 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
In the late 90s someone left a Tanaka ECS 3500 in my shop and
       never came back.
The complaint was it wouldnt start. But if fuel is poured into
the inlet, it would start, over rev and stop.
The guy was supposed to pay a fee upfront as advance, but
promising to return, but never came back
Last week since it was sitting there occupying space I thought I
would sell it as scrap. But when all the dust was wiped off I
noticed it had not been used much and decided to get it going if
possible, business being virtually at a standstill in 2018 I had
       all the time I needed.
It took me about 20 minutes to confirm the cause of the problem.
A ripped inlet manifold probably from over enthusiasm when
       freeing a stuck guidebar .
Parts for a Tanaka a rarity, I managed to modify the manifold of
a cheap Zenoah clone from China and the engine fired up at the
first attempt and runs as sweetly as it did when it came out of
       its box years ago.
But, now I find a real problem. The oil pump seems to be kaput.
From the old contents of the oil tank I gathered that the guy
who owned this saw had been using used motor oil of the worst
kind, with a lot of metal sediments.
There was no oil pickup body and the oil tube had a big tear.
Once more I delved into that Zenoah clone for its oil tube and
       pickup body.
Still no oil. I think the pump is a goner.
Are parts for this saw still available? Expensive or reasonable?
If possible I would like to get this saw to full working
       condition and keep it.
       Joe

See if you can find an Hitachi lookup. ereplacementparts.com
       doesn't show Hitachi any more. I needed a clutch for a CS51EAP
Hitachi(Tanaka TCS51EAP) clutch was half what it showed under
       Tanaka same clutch.
