This thing is driving me nuts. Saw will start and run high end
but will not idle worth a darn. About the only way I can get it
to idle is with the low spd needle way out and then it's very
erratic. Have soaked and cleaned many times using everything
from 2+2 to a new ultrasonic purchased just for this reason.
Recently installed a Walbro carb kit thinking maybe I was
missing something with the gaskets and diaphragm that I couldn't
see. I've adj. the metering lever as well as I could and the kit
had a new needle included. Sprayed WD40 around the mounting
base, checking for air leaks while it was running and it made no
difference. The saw no longer has points and cond. but a
universal ignition module that I replaced because I'm running
out of options. The first one was installed around 10 yrs. ago
and worked perfectly. New one made no difference. The saw is a
CS500VL, not in the recall range, and if it wasn't for this PITA
problem, I'd be happy to keep using it.
Any help would be greatly, GREATLY appreciated.
       Thanks, Bill
       Did I mention greatly appreciated?
If I posted this in the wrong area, I apologize. Tried the Echo
forum earlier and got no replies

Have you pressure checked the carb to make sure it is sealed. I
may look into the check valve. I am not familiar with the hdb
       walbro carb.

Yep you might consider replacing the carb. I would also
pressure and vacuum check the crankcase before replacing the
       carb.
