Those were "pull dowels " which have a thread in them for
extraction from a blind hole .They were only ones I could find
       at the time .
A lot of this home grown stuff is experimentation .Usually it
works after a few minor adjustments . ;)
Problem with a screw on clutch is they get tight as a mouses ear
.What ever you use often times has to be able to with stand some
impact because it often takes a mighty wack with a hammer to get
       it broke loose .
You can take a chance and thump them on the clutch spinder with
a brass rod and a ball peen but you take the change of doing
harm to the crank shaft stub end . Not good .

Some very crude tools I have made up. No lathe here so nothing
very fancy. Borrowed a buddies wire feed welder (I never welded
before) to make the partner oiler gear remover gizmo in the
back. It's made from a 1/2-3/8" NPT adapter and various pieces
shown on the second photo. The threads on the 1/2" end are
14TPI which matches the oiler gear, but it's a little too large
in diameter. Just shove a small piece of string or rag on the
       threads to keep things tight.
Flywheel pullers on the left (minus the screws/washers needed)
and clutch removal tools on the right that are used gently with
       an impact wrench.

[/quote] nor sure how to post a picture that you can see i'll
work on it.......anyway its a piece oy steel 1-1/2" Wide X
12"long for this one two holes are drilled and taped 1/4-20
thread (used 1/4-20 bolts) the same distance apart as the clutch
center line measures insert two screws with locktight cut the
threads flush with the steel and on the second side cut the
heads off the distance that the clutch is deep i put a piece of
starter rope in the cylinder to loosen and tigthen..worked good
on my saw.... dont know if it will fit all saws i made this for
my jonsered easy enough to make though.....Chris.....

Solo 665-681 Clutch tool. Everybody has a bunch of old spark
plug sockets in their toolbox. I used a Dremel and a 1" cutoff
wheel to cut out every other face about 3/8" - 7/16" deep.
10-15 min. Done. I think it will work on Dol/Mak 6400-7900
       too. Will have to check.

That brings up another little trick .On some Stihl clutchs with
a little nut like projection the champfer on a 6 point socket
just will not gain enough "purchase " on the nut .Simple fix
,belt sand the champfer out of the socket until it's straight
       smooth .

Just throwing this out there. Dolmar 166 flywheel removal tool.
I found out that the POLY flywheel removal tool for the stihl
066 660 will work. It is the same threads as the dolmar 166
flywheel since I owned both saws. ;)
