McCulloch 335 - Jammed ? Help required
By: Brampton Bodger Date: March 19, 2017, 3:54 am

Hi.
New to the forum and a bit of a novice when it comes to repairs
on chainsaws so please bear with me !. My McCulloch 335, which
has served me brilliantly is playing up. It starts fine but when
you try to throttle it, it sounds as if something is jammed in
the blade. But the blade is free, and not jammed, but it does
not rotate. The guard on the front (above your left knuckle) is
also in the correct position.
Any ideas on how to solve this ?
Thanks in advance
Ed

Check and see if clutch cover brake is on or if brake band is on
around the clutch drum.
Take the clutch cover off, bar and chain off and see if clutch
turns freely by hand.

Hi
Many thanks for all the replies on this, which have been most
useful. The drive sprocket is broken- the bit that the chain
fits round. So i want to replace this.
I've looked at some You Tube videos and have got as far as the
clutch assembly. This will not come loose to replace this
sprocket. I am using a hammer and screwdriver, hitting the
curved bits of metal on the outside of the spring and am hitting
itclockwise but it will not budge. I have a rope in where the
spark plug lives. The clutch itself and outer casing spins
freely.
Any further advice gratefully received.
Thanks again.

The threads on the clutch are left hand so, turn the clutch
clockwise to get it off.
