Stihl 090 10ci 10 cube

I know I had a thread on these ole stihl 090 10 cube saws
somewhere :-\. Maybe it was in the racesaws days.
Anyhow here is a big bore 090 a ole racer is getting restored
and rebuilt from the racing days.
The pic is the 10ci piston on bottom with a 66mm on top.

OOOF!! That would be a real beast although the cylinder walls
must be very thin. What carburetor would work on something like
that?

The orignal standard HL Tillotson were usually used with the
venturi bored out oversize. Hans Peter Stihl as a young man in
the 1960's got heavily involved in the Go Kart scene with the
Contra powerheads.
There was many more 10 cube 090 P/C's built then what we were
told.
Alot of them got into the ultra light aviation field plus test
model saws into the African jungles.

The plating has had a rough life on that one looks like.

Just my WAG many years of not flushing real good. Getting all
the alky/nitro out of it on the flush.
Also surprised how thin the top of piston is over ring. Seen
thicker then that break.

That was something else I was wondering about.

Hi Kevin and folkz, been a while since I have been on this
forum... Be real nice to find one of those beasts hidden
somewhere, there must be a couple out here in Oz.

That piston looks to me like it was set up for a Dykes ring,
unlike the 66mm slug. Interesting.
