a friend and co worker of mine has a couple of off breed saws.
they look to be very similar, but are different brands. one is a
cs46 john deere and a cs5720 cub cadet. i know nothing ab out
these saws and would like some history, problems and opinions
       about them.

Both saws are made by Efco in Italy and are good saws. The JD
CS46 is the Efco 147, a high end homeowner/farm saw. The Cub
Cadet is the 156 Efco. A pro grade 56 cc saw.

The 156 is probably the most under rated saw in it's class.
Very good saw IMO. Have 2 of them. Other Efco's include 6-165,
1-7200, 1-181, 2-8200. Good dependable saws and excellent
       value.

thanks for the info. he will be happy to hear that. i haven't
heard of efco. i am surprised that they don't have thier own
dealerships around here. at least he will know that he won't
have to go to 2 different dealerships for parts.
