064 Stihl

Having replaced the coil and now the rings(after cleaning the
top of the piston as best I could), saw is back together and
runs pretty darn good....until it get warmed up. After the warm
up idle, under no load, it runs great....maybe a tad on the rich
side(yes, new plug). But once it's warmed up and in wood, it
starts to 'miss' and wants to die.......
Thoughts? Cause?
This saw is quickly becoming a PITA(pain in the ^ss).

Sounds like it may be starving for fuel? Check the condition of
the fuel line and filter, impulse line and the intake boot.
Also, did the saw sit for a long time with fuel in it? Carb
could have gunk in it...

Sounds fuel related. Which style vent is on it?

I am in the camp with Aclark. Fuel filter, fuel line, or carb.

Sorry for the delay...that dang job keeps getting in the way.
Saw didn't sit with fuel for very long. I do use non-ethanol
and stabil also.
Fuel line, impulse, and filter all new. Intake boot has also
been replaced, along with just about everything else....figure
with all the parts I've thrown at this saw, I could practically
have another saw sitting there.
Vent is a tube that comes up beside the off/on/choke switch.

Does the vent tube have a grub screw or two in it??? Those
become problematic with age, inspect that and make sure you can
draw air through it.

and rebuild, a very touchy carb to adjust. make very small
adjustments at a time.

Did you replace the coil with the same one? There are several
coils that will fit the saw but if you have the wrong
flywheel/coil combo the saw will act up. Does your flywheel have
two slots? If so try moving the flywheel to the other slot.

So, just to be clear, you're saying once warmed up it'll idle &
rev unloaded just fine and the problem only shows up when
cutting?
