Freakin Murray Push Mower
By: dudechuck Date: April 1, 2015, 5:59 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Because I hadn't had much success with my Husqvarna 257 my wife
hadn't told me that our push mower wasn't cranking. She works at
Wal-Mart and someone bought a Murray, cut their grass and
brought it back to the store saying it would run. The guy at the
store that checks returns check it out and ran a tank of gas
through it fine and was getting ready to put it back out at a
marked down price of $75 when she walked by and saw it and
called me to come and buy it.
I have gotten on this kick the last couple of years in making
sure I get fresh pictures of all tag, bar-codes, model numbers
ect for everything we get or have so I can find manuals and
stuff on this stuff to file on my computer. Well this thing has
nothing that matches online with anything I have found. Here is
the link for this mower
HTML http://www.murray.com/us/en/LA-US-push-mowers/M20300/
and I am
including pictures of the tags in this post. Can someone help me
locate the repair manual and the User manual for this thing.

I have several (5) mowers with B&S 6.75 engines. They all have
float carburetors.
Twice I've had a piece of trash in the main jet fuel entrance in
the very bottom of the fuel bowl of two different mowers
The other problem is with the operator presence brake not being
fully "ON" and the ignition is shorted or grounded out.

You won't find much if anything on the Murray (B&S) website, the
model number indicates it was built for them by Husqvarna
Outdoor Products. That model of engine is new, Briggs does not
yet have a service manual for it and the one for the Intek OHV
isn't much help. User manual is pretty much useless, it tells
the operator where to put the gas and oil and keep fingers away
from hot or moving parts.

It is likely something simple?
See if it has spark?
See if the spark plug is wet?

You bought a mower that someone returned because it wouldn't
start. That someone could of use old ass gas that had water in
it. Drop the bowl make sure it clean make sure the float is not
stuck closed (gas will come out when float lowered).
2) pull the plug and make sure it is dry. Reinstall the plug and
start it. (Hopefully)

Hey JR welcome to the forum and sounds like you know a thing or
two. You might not have noticed that the post was a couple of
years old.
I have done it myself.

Also if you would have read once it was returned to the store a
whole tank of gas was ran thru it before it was going to go on
the reduced sale rack.
So it was running when bought the second time.
