Check ebay I found a new one for mine out of china most of those
stihl brushcutter caps interchange

Any guidance would be much appreciated, as ive tried a couple of
stihl caps from the east already, and neither fit :(
I saw some Shindaiwa caps on ebay, but the seller said they
wouldnt fit - but im not sure if he just doesnt know and doesnt
want to stick his neck out for me.

Don't know if anyone is still looking but someone on youtube
shows that the current echo gas cap fits the old fs80.

I have a fs 96,stihl made by shindiawa.Its a great machine,but
the carb
is a pain ,even post carb kit .Someone ? mentioned converting a
walbro
for it.I would be interested to hear how .

There were 2 Walbro carburetors used on the FS 96. The WT-38B
and later the WT-189B. But both are NLA and also the air filter
and filter housing parts. Maybe you are able to find good used
parts.
