I have watched many of those videos. Very neat. Have always like
competitions that come from what people do for a living. Do you
know do they do any of those events here or are they mostly over
seas?

Talked to a guy at the shop that tried it in Germany. He said it
was 1 inch plastic dowels there.

I'd think the wood ones shown in that link would be easier and
cheap for folks like us to build and try. Like old broom handles
etc.

Okay, choice of saw? Let the guys run whatever they bring or
supply 1 saw for everyone?

1 saw for all would be the way to go IMO keep it all even
chain saw etc. just operator then like in stock saw racing with
same saw for everyone.
unless you have 2 set ups for side by side.
some shows did have 2 stock saws and sometimes you could tell a
faster of the 2 saws.
