490 with heated handles. Except for top covers, air filter and
carb cover off the top of my head.
early 5000 was open port, 5000 plus closed port like 490

No there not identical to a 5000. The air filter and choke setup
is completly different as as is the handlebar setup.
The 490 handlebars are the same as a Partner 500 and thats not a
good thing.

Early 5000 before plus had 500 handle bar. ;)
Identical to me means - Having such a close similarity or
resemblance. I wasn't meaning Identical Twins. ;D

Well I've got the 490 headed my, and should be here sometime

I've said on many forums my only experiance with any J-reds at
all are restricted to three .Two 60's ,a 620 and some other 60's
cc that was about a duplicate and a 525 which is 49 cc's .
They all without exception from my perspective were in fact very
good operating saws . Were I to speculate I have no doubt that
had their been dealers in this area they most likely could have
been a contender .As it turned out though Stihl is the only one
to have survived .

You said identical except for color. There are other differences
and I just pointed them out.
I cannot say about the early 5000 handle bar so I'll take your
word for that for now.

I think I got some pics of my early 5000's somewhere to show.
Date on one was 1979. No handle support and handles like 500.
You ever heard about the 45mm bore on the Pioneer Partner 500
open port. I got one. Some guy on magnus site said they had a
different name, but mine has no special markings. It's in
parts now.
