What are you guys seeing local?
       From a used selling point.
stihl sells the easiest for me local.
husky next and once a stihl guy runs one comparable to the stihl
they leave with the husky usually.
dolmar hard to sell no local known name for some but by a few
       guys I know 3-4.
echo I cant give away it seems
poulan only to those in the know or come test some first hand
and price then sells them too.
Name sells it seems. Not the quality or price point I have
       noticed.

Though there are maybe 10:1 clamshell homeowner Stihls compared
       to Pro Stihl models locally?
I had a Stihl 031 that was in decent shape. They are a older
chainsaw model and don't compare with Stihls from the last 20
       years.
I sold it. It went fast. The guy flipped it for something bigger
and newer plus cash to his brother almost immediately. Whereas I
had no use for the old thing.

Is that the 031 I sold to a guy I know for a back up to his
husky? Then his brother seen it and traded a husky 450 and same
money he paid for saw in 1st place?
That guy was grinning ear to ear when he told me the story and
showing me the husky to check out.

I usually sell husqvarna the most. More bang for the buck. I
like Stihl but I can't buy them cheap so I don't mess with them.
Except maybe a 028 here and there.

Exactly the same here. Esp Dolmar??????????? who makes that is
that a saw? LOL. I'm probably the only one in my country that
even knows what they are or has Dolmars. Don't even mention
       Solo.

My neighbor I used to work with from across the highway came
       over and seen a Dolmar 115i, 6800iH, 5105, and two 7900's.
He wanted to know why I had those saws and what was so good
about that brand he had never heard of?
He has a Husqvarna 435 and a Stihl FS 45 and some 10 yrs ago had
a couple mutual work friends over to his house with their Stihls
to cut down his huge dead ash.
I had a bunch of Echos around in the shop too and he seemed to
       accept them?
In this part of the nation, Echo and Dolmar come from the same
distributor and many echo dealers are also Dolmar dealers.
There's a Stihl dealer on every corner? There's 7 Stihl dealers
within 25 miles of my house. Only one of them stocks any parts
       though.

I have a half dozen Stihls. I did have a couple more but I sold
       them.
I deal most with the DOIT Hardware / Stihl dealer about 1/4 mi
North of the house. They don't stock much of anything in the way
of parts and only have the plastic homeowner clamshell saws. But
they are nice to me and don't gouge me on prices. When I order
something it comes in within three working days.

The usual here, the big 2 no matter in what condition seem to
demand big $'s. as I tend to be out of step a bit, & keep a #of
the big 2's running for a commercial logging company,( let me
state a this point I have nothing against them) I have none of
the 2 in my collection I have over the last 3/4 years acquired
freebies & bought for very small amounts of cash or exchanged
various models of Olympic, Oleo Mac, & various branded saws
manufactured by the now named Efco/Emack company. at first the
local to me owners of the big 2 jobbies thought that I & my saws
would be good as the butt of a joke but after 3 French equiv's
of a GTG a lot have changed there attitude after running the
       various Oleo's, + 4 or so Prof Alpina's & when I tell them that
my 10 or so saws total probably only cost the amount of possibly
2 of their saws, they now in a good few cases don't consider it
a joke, & are looking to try to buy mine, or buy up any local
sales, the tunnel vision for the big 2 is a bit less & several
guys now realize that there is life outside of Stihl & Husky +
you can buy a saw for very few$'s that will perform almost & in
some cases equal or better to the big 2 comparable models
trouble is the words out & the bargains are starting to dry up
       Bu***r

I have sold a lot of saws on CL. I only deal with the upper
quality saws and Echo seem to be the best sellers for me.
I sold a Husqvarna, a few months ago, that had been on CL for
       over two months.
Strange thing is--I got a call after dark and it was raining and
the guy wanted to come look at it now. I told him to wait until
tomorrow and he agreed to come that afternoon. No less the ten
minutes later, I got a call and the guy wanted to come now,
didn't even want to try it??
I told him also to come tomorrow.
Less then an hour later, got another call and guy agreed to come
       tomorrow before work.
He showed up at 6:30, tried the saw and left.
Three calls in less then two hours apart for a $165.00 saw that
had been listed for two months with no calls.
       Strange world, dealing with people!
