       Efco 156

       Hello,
My name is Don. My skill is with auto repair.(39 yrs. :-\)
       Pleased to make your acquaintance.
My 156 blew up the cooling fins on the flywheel. I ordered an
new one from Chainsaw Shed. It doesn't have the keyway or the
steel center in the aluminum cast flywheel, just a raised
aluminum boss where the keyway should be.
My question is: Has the manufacturer modified the flywheel in
production? The date on the old one is "08" the new one is
       "12".[img width=600

I dont know these. farmboy and old logging I think have been in
       these.
Just looking at flywheel pawls and saws used on. It might just
be a updated part. Flywheel pawls fits Efco 956, 962, 156,
       165 , john deere cs56
       Just guessing.

Crank key is molded into the flywheel. Yep modifed in
production and coils are different too. Was lookin @ the
cranks coils yesterday they will not interchange much to my
dismay. Cut remember the NOS 165 w/bad crank brgs i think the
coil is bad too. That's why I was looking @ the cranks/coils.
Was going to try one off a 962, 956, CS56 those are project
       saws.

Shep are you saying he has to have the other coil to match the
new flywheel? Older coil dont work with new flywheels?

Old coil does not work w/new flywheel according to IPL I haven't
tried one to see if old coil works w/new flywheel. He will have
to get old flywheel or new digital coil to go w/new flywheel.

Efco 156. Olympic, Oleo Mac, Olympyk 956 muffler mod. I have a
idea what I was going to do. Just wonder if anyone else has done
       these?

Never mind on the muffler mod. Think I will just leave it alone
after checking the inside of muffler out and the outlet.
Big side outlet from factory shown from inside. Maybe open
       deflector up some.
Inside 2 big holes on each side already.
Saw cant have any time on it hardly. Rim not even marked.
       Piston looks like new.
